On the west end of Lake Ontario we will find the Burlington Canal.
Sunrise's are dramatic here since they arise directly in the middle of the lake during June. There were lots of nature photographers there early in the morning taking photos of the birds. Fishermen rise early to come here and find the catch for the day. It is very picturesque and you almost forget you have the Hamilton Steel Work factories behind you. The Burlington Canal Lighthouse dates back to the mid-1800s and has a bit of history attached to it. There is a very small park here were you can have a picnic lunch or you can walk down the stony beach.

These are the lighthouses, protecting the bridge, close to the lake.
I often go to the Burlington Skyway. One day I found a lighthouse while my wife was driving.
We were able to see these lighthouses. It was not hard.

Here is how we can see these lighthouses.
Heading north along the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) towards Burlington, Ontario, exit at Eastport Drive (exit 93). Drive to the the ramp, make a right to Eastport Drive. You will find the Burlington Canal Front Range Lighthouse.
It is worthwhile!

We walked down both sides of the canal along the piers. Nothing really to see at this lighthouse though. Its more like a beacon. There is a historical light house next to the south side of the lift bridge but you can't access it.

The photograph with this listing not really a lighthouse but a range light at the end of the pier, but the Burlington Canal Lighthouse, which dates back to the mid-1800s, is back near Eastport Drive and while it is fenced off today, major plans are under way to renovate the historic site.

The lighthouses are not far from the main road, so it is a quick stop to visit the 2 lighthouses.
Burlington Canal Main Lighthouse is the lighthouse that is right off the highway and can be walked to in 30 seconds. However this year, they are doing construction so one cannot walk right up to it. By next summer the dock should be open again.
Burlington Canal Pier Lighthouse is at the end of a pier that can be reached in a brief 5-10 minutes walk from the parking lot. The lighthouse is closed and there is some graffiti on it, but it is a nice walk. At the end you can get a nice view of the Toronto skyline. There is a beach, but the water and the sand was rather black and gross, so i would not suggest swimming there.
