Dance program at the Meridian

Saw Alvin Ailey American Dance at Meridian Hall. The last time I saw them was in NYC in the late 70s. Great seats but the best aspect was being part of the appreciative audience!

Will never visit again

This is a review of the venue. My husband and I were so disappointed when we sat down in the auditorium to watch Lord Of The Rings, a 3.5 hour concert and had to leave at intermission. The seating was unbelievably tight, worse than coach airline seats or seats in the movie theatres. There was no room for people to pass to get to their seat, even if you’re standing. This seating would be good for the hobbits but that’s about it. If you are tall or fluffy (larger than size 12) then I do not recommend.

This is a review of the venue, not one of my favourite bands, Porcupine Tree. While the venue is modern and comfortable with a civilized bar area, the staff did not respect the wishes of the band nor the audience.
This was a heavy hard rock alternative band who wanted the audience to stand up, appreciate them by showing enthusiasm and evoke some energy. The band repeated asked us to stand up and show them that Toronto had some life. We were repeatedly told to sit down and actually told we would be thrown out if we stood up! We were treated like petulant school children and talked down to by rude security staff. We waited a decade for this band to perform together again and the evening was tainted by this venue and their ignorant security staff.
Know your audience. Listen to the artists. Stop being overbearing control-freaks if you want people to enjoy being entertained here!

No tall people allowed.
The leg room is not made for tall people. Thanks to a great angle of the seat. And to top it of they block a part with cup holder.
A warning would have been nice.

Attended the Dream Theater concert

Went there on the 2nd March 2022.
Great venue in walking distance from the hotel
Easy access to refreshments and amenities.
Seats great. You can see the whole stage.
Will be back hopefully for more concerts.

Good viewing from anywhere in this theatre

My husband and I went to see the Drum Tao show last week. It was a great show! We sat in the second last row of the theatre and we did not have any problems with our view or the sound! If you had a very tall person sitting right in front of you, you could have an issue with part of your view being blocked...but we were fine.
Before the show we had a bite to eat at Scotland Yard which is a 5 minute walk away. There are alot of good restaurants to choose from which are about a 5 or 10 minute walk away! We drove down and parked in the Green P parking lot - again, very close. After 6:00 pm, it's only $7 to park!
The location is good for public transit as well - Union station is very close.
I haven't been here in years to see a show! I would definately come back.

We will rock you...

We recently saw "We will rock you" at the Meridian Hall. The acoustics were great but our sightlines weren't that good. We had seats near the back of the hall and with 2 tall people sitting in front of us we had to look between them to see the show which was uncomfortable. Also charging $13 for a can of beer was kind of steep. Other than that we enjoyed the show.

One playing the number ones of the Beatles.

Two reviews in one! The theatre itself has been around for almost 70 years, but the seats are comfy and roomy and the theatre is not showing wear and tear. Acoustics were surprisingly not great. May be a function of the sound engineer for the band. Drums were inaudible during the first half. Sound was muddy.
Washrooms were very limited, considering the size of the venue.
The band itself did faithfully reproduce the hits of the Beatles but without a great deal of showmanship or flair. Harmonies were excellent. Graphics and accompanying video were kind of corny.

Typically we get very positive reviews about our acoustics -- will definitely look into this performance to learn more. Attended world of dance

I attended world of dance and scored great seats in the centre of the front orchestra. The show was amazing! The theater was smaller and cosy. There are concession stands with wine and beer. They gave a generous pour to a 9 ounce glass of wine served in a regular plastic cup. I was happy it fit in the cup holder at the seat :) .
