Visited here recently with friends. Ordered the Happy Chicken bowl. Couldn’t have chosen better! Soup of the day was delicious as well. Good craft beer selection.
Enjoyed watching the seaplanes taking off and landing from our seat on the patio. Friendly wait staff. An overall great dining experience .

For those of us who leave the big birds behind at the Vancouver International Airport & need to catch twin props or "flying beavers," aka planes with pontoons, this place seems just right. After all, you are venturing out to parts unknown. If one secures a window seat, one can even watch the planes land in the water behind the pub.
In the center, above the fireplace, a stuffed eagle clutching a salmon forever spirals. And in the case below, a Hunt carving of a flying beaver--is it a plane or a mammal?
Service is reliable, quick, and friendly. My wife and I ordered a hamburger with fries and a stout. All of it reasonably prepared and totally quenching our appetites.
Quite the place to visit. We only wished we didn't have a plane to catch!

Just around the corner from much more expensive restaurants and bars, I found this hole in the wall. After drinking all night the owner offered to drive me to my hotel personally. They have lots of free entertainment and great drink specials, although the drinks are all ready quite affordable for Toronto. It's been a long time since I've been but I will definitely stop back by when in Toronto. Very friendly atmosphere.

Although the owners think they are wheelchair accessible, they are not. The space is extremely tight and despite informing staff prior to visiting the space, that a wheelchair client was attending, they had not reserved the space and we ended up leaving the restaurant. Wasting our time and money (we travelled via accessible taxi)..

I've been several times now to support friends who are performing there. After the last time, I won't return. Is this a cabaret or a pub? Either way, they aren't staffed appropriately.

If you know ahead of time that you have 30+ people coming for a show with dinner, do you not think you'd put on more staff than just one wait-person? The service was glacially slow. It must have taken 20 minutes for someone to see if I wanted to have a drink. Each time I've been there was like the first night they've been in business. One server and one of the owners (presumably) running around but not getting much done. They really owe it to their customers to hire more staff for event nights, especially since their prices are not exactly reflective of the service and product you receive.

The food isn't that great. My veggie burger was burnt to the point of being a hockey puck but by the time it actually arrived I was so hungry I ate it anyway.

In a nutshell, it seems like a bunch of amateurs running a business but expecting higher than norm prices in return.

I will not return.

The Flying Beaver Pubaret is unique space in Cabbagetown. A normal bar, better than average restaurant, and a live performance space - music, comedy, cabaret-type acts, it's an excellent space in the city.

I can't tell if this is a straight-friendly gay bar, or a gay-friendly straight bar, either way, all are welcome. It's a great space to see comedians, and nightclub/cabaret performances, and it's a very intimate musical venue - the range of entertainment is impressive.

The menu is suprising - standard pub fare and fantastic specials. All of the food was excellent when we went for dinner and a show earlier this month. The wine list is good and there are some excellent beer choices.

Open only Wednesday to Sunday, it's definitely worth a visit if you're in Toronto and want to see some entertainment out of the ordinary.

The owners and staff are lovely - good, friendly service, and a prompt response if you leave a message requesting reservations.

Bonus: There is a 'green P' parking lot right behind the bar, so affordable, convenient parking as well as decent access by public transit.
