Greenhouses were amazing. However, I wish I had gone in the summer as the full experience requires the gardens.

I visited in November 2023, and I did not really enjoy the experience as I was expecting more. As a green adea to walk around it is OK but as a botanical garden, less so. The Chinese garden was very sad with no water in the lake which was just mud.
I expect it is much better in the spring.
Entry into the gardens is free, but there is a fee to enter the greenhouses.

Wonderful outdoor activity, lots of walking with lovely spots to stop and reflect. The city noise and bustle melts away. There are many spaces and there is art exhibits interspersed. The bids there are an added treat.

Visiting various parts of the gardens was worth the entrance fee. The various aspects were enthralling, esp. the Japanese gardens

Easy to get to by metro and 5 mins walk.
On entry we headd towards the back of the site and worked our way to the front. Nice clear signage to the various areas. As it was hot, we stayed outside all the time but managed to see it in just under two hours. We needed to get back into town for another booking but didn't feel we were rushing our visit.
Such a peaceful and beautiful place and perfect after a couple of days of busy sightseeing!

I simply love wandering the Montreal Botanic Gardens every year on my annual visit to family.
When exploring the evocative network of paths and tracks, there's alway a breath-taking view or an interesting new plant or tree to grab your attention.
If resting quietly on one of the many comfortable benches or colourful chairs there's a multitude of birds, squirrels and chipmunks to watch. Or a captivating chance to watch a fox hunting!
Above all else the gardens epitomize peacefulness and beauty.Despite being lovingly set out in attractive displays with evidence of constant maintenance, the vast expanse somehow manages to project an aura of wilderness in the midst of a large bustling city.
Without doubt it is one of my favourite places in the world.

If you visit garden in day and get the first tickets to lights at night, what can you do in the hour the garden is closed? Are there any restaurants very nearby that you could eat a quick meal in between?

We got a salad and pizza at Pizzeria Heirloom which was about a 20-25 minute walk. Uber would be a possibility too. There were some other restaurants which looked very popular around Pizzeria Heirloom as well.

Hello! I want to apologize for not answering your question earlier. The person responsible in the past changed job and I forgot to take care of it. The answer is no. The Mosaïcultures took place in the Montréal Botanical Garden many years ago just for 1 season.
Hi when you park in the parking lot can you leave and come back in the same parking cost?

We wanted to travel to the Botanical Gardens to see the MosaicSculptures from the 2015 event. We heard they were being renovated. Where would those be located in the garden and is that area open yet?

I visited this past October, unfortunately I don't remember or recall these. They have seasonal installations and light shows. Have you checked their website?

We will be in Montreal on Oct 30 & 31. I'm a little confused about the tickets for the Botanical gardens and the Garden of Lights. If we buy a timed ticket for the Garden of Lights -- let's say at 6:30 ( they start at 5:30)-- Do we need to also buy a separate admission to the Botanical Gardens or does ticket to Garden of Lights cover both entrance fees?
Website for Botanical Gardens says hours on the 2 days we will be there are 9 am to 9 pm. We were thinking about getting to the gardens around 4:30, touring the gardens and then going to the Garden of Lights around 6:30 or 7:00 assuming it will be dark by then.
Another question is that Oct 31 is the last day for Garden of Lights and is Halloween. Since we have a choice of Oct 30 or 31, which night would you suggest going to there?
Thanks for your help

No, the entrance fee includes the gardens, greenhouse and lights show. 6:30pm is a good time for the end of Oct. I was just there and went to the 7pm showing which was a great time since it was dark enough to enjoy the light displays. Wear comfortable walking shoes, the garden is pretty large.
