What an excellent gallery. Really enjoyed the range of pieces on show. Well worth the time and money. We were glad to make time to fit this in despite so many competing sights to see.

Who knew Rembrandt had something in common with Cher or Prince? That's right; his name is so long and complicated it devolved into just: Rembrandt.
Rembrandt made his living at first as a creator of etchings. He was scratching the distinctive lines and scoring into a board that created beautiful, haunting images that he sold to his patrons. The tremendous volume of his etchings on display at the Musee National des Beaux-Arts du Quebec is totally worth the visit. Beyond that the permanent collection and other exhibits make this a truly international treasure for the art enthusiast.

The McNicoll exhibit was transcendent! Even though parts of the museum were closed we loved it, and highly recommend. Inuit carvings were spectacular.

The part that I found most interesting is devoted to contemporary Inuit art, particularly sculpture. It is a pity that there are not more pieces presented and okus old. I expected to find some nuggets around the beginning of the 20th century. The permanent fund is quite small. There were two interesting temporary exhibitions, one devoted to the art of engraving at Rembrandt, and the other to a painter who spread Impressionism in Quebec and is largely forgotten today: Helen McNicoll, whose first retrospective! The museum spaces are pleasant. The app is flawed and buying your ticket online is a challenge.

Visited this museum to see the Rembrandt sketches and the work of artist Helen Mcnicholl. I didn’t expect to fall in love with both artists, but I did. Rembrandt’s sketches were amazing, just to see how he did what he did. Helen Mcnicholl is new to me, but I will be learning more about her because of this visit. Her work with light is mesmerizing.
Not a big museum (which is kind of nice), we toured all exhibits except for the Inuit one.
I would definitely return here.

I recently visited this museum. It was a little disappointing that several of the joined buildings were closed for construction.
However, there were interesting paintings to see, an excellent Inuit collection, a design exhibit, and an extensive collection of Rembrandt etchings and engravings.
If you plan to go, check first to see which exhibits are open.

The exhibitions were really interesting and very extensive. We discovered the talent and contribution of Helen McNicoll, especially thanks to the excellent guided tour with Julien (in French). Ask/call for your free tickets for the entrance tour. The Rembrandt exhibition was exceptional and she deserves time to admire her works ... for the two, a few hours. Coffee was as well for a quick meal on the go before, during or after visiting the exhibitions.

My experience at the museum was pretty poor. The ticket price is very high. Some works were interesting. For example, Rembrandt's. A few staff members are not helpful at all. One of them is even condescending:-(

Hi, how many hours would you recommend to set aside to spend in the museum?
Skrevet 19. april 2022
Two is the minimum but 3-4 will give you a chance to walk through the various galleries. Don't miss the rooftop garden exhibit in the main building.

I know the area very well. There is a large parking lot adjacent to the Museum, on its East side. It is not free, but rates are reasonable. There is also plenty of metered parking along the street, just West of the Museum. In front of the Museum main entrance, there is a large turn about where a drop in could easily be done. As others have noted,it's a beautiful walk from the Old Town to the Museum, along Grande Allée, passing in front of the Quebec Parliament. Its a very, very gentle slope. From Chateau Frotenac, I would figure at least an hour because you will want to stop along the way.
