Guided tour of Fort Saint-Louis , visit the foundations of the fort being located at the base of Château Frontenac. Very exciting and constructive visit , delivered by a passionate and very friendly Guide.

My wife and I took the self-guided walking tour of the St. Louis Chateau and Forts. This part of the city was built in the 1600s and occupied until a fire destroyed much of the site in the 1800s. It is located beneath the Terrace with the entrance near the Hotel Frontenac. The walk took us about an hour to walk through the archeological site and read most of the interpretive boards. It was extremely informative and unique. Also, as an added bonus, it was air conditioned which was lovely on the hot day we did the tour.

Amazing to see the history of Quebec City still in tact. Accidentally came across this on Dufferin Terrace and it was well worth the little detour in our day.

A nice place to stop to get out of the sun, located underneath the boardwalk. We went through in about 30 minutes on our own. The guided tour would take longer. Interesting tidbits and history facts to read along the way.

This was interesting to see but not that captivating. You need to be really Inter in artifacts. It wasn’t as kid-friendly as reviews made it out to be. Yes - there’s a scavenger hunt book you can fill out for a prize they kept them busy but the kids got bored quickly so we didn’t spend long there.

Have been wanting to visit this for many years but we were always in Quebec City in the winter when it it closed. We finally were able to visit in the summer. Joined an English tour. Used our National Park Discovery park pass so everything was included as part of our pass. Very informative and interesting tour to hear the evolution of the chateau. Guided tour is an hour and would recommend the tour over the audio tour.

It was interesting to see the remains of the original governer's chateau, but there wasn't really that much to see. The exhibit is underneath the Dufferin Terrace, and you buy tickets at the north end, but the entrance is more towards the middle of the terrace, a stroll away. You exit back at the place you paid for the tickets. Kids can get an "xplore" book with some educational questions to be answered, and they can receive a little souvenir back at the pay station upon your return. We took the audio tour, which had a lot of information to listen to. There are also guided tours in French and English (separately) and the tour being given in French that we overhead had a very capable, knowledgeable guide.

We went on an hour guided tour with Christina (in English) and we learned a lot. She is knowledgeable about the history behind Québec and how the “château “ evolve throughout the centuries. The price is reasonable. If you want to know a bit more about the fort, the old residence and the First Nations, this is the right tour.

Located right beneath the Dufferin Terrace, this place was where the ruling power was located in Quebec City for at least a couple of centuries.
It's an overlooked attraction, but worth the visit. Take a guided tour, which is offered regularly; we didn't and while there is information posted around the site, a tour would have made it more meaningful.
Tickets are located right by the funicular. The fort is underground, and is only open during the summer months.

Stop walking over it, go down and see it!
There are these 2 peep windows on the dufferins terrace, that I wasn't quite sure what they were for. Low and behold there are ruins from previous governor's homes under there. How could I not go down there and see it all.
I wanted a guided tour, but the next one in English was to late, so I paid for a self guided tour, but to my surprise, I got an guide tour as well, as the park ranger, was going down, and was able to narrative what I was seeing. That was nice.
It put a lot of things into perspective about Quebec city and how the place has evolved over time.

Since everything is closed due to Covid, is any part of the ruins visible through the windows from the promenade ?
