So many items to see, alongside the toys there is pop memorabilia, old arcade machines and much, much more - very interesting

Superb Toy museum, maybe a little cramped but there's so much to see in there you can forgive that! For Star Wars fans this is a "must - see" museum as there are loads of toys and props to view. Also there's some great dinosaurs on the (pretty steep it must be said!) walk up to the museum which really is a House on a hill (Small mountain!!)
Certainly worth a visit and is included on the price of the Castle visit (see separate review!)

Cracking little Toy museum with something for everyone and all ages. Our 3 y/o absolutely loved the old star wars toys. Lots of old soldiers, train sets and classic toys I remembered from the 70's/80's.

That quick list does not do justice to what is an exceptional collection of toys going back a century or so but, at least for me, focussing on some of my favourite things as a child in the 1970s. It is pure nostalgia and took me back to when I owned an Ed Straker car and the Airfix pontoon bridge playset.
Admission is covered in the Mountfichet Castle ticket so depending on perspective you are either paying for a great toy musuem with a bonus castle reconstruction or the other way around. For me, well worth the price of admission for both.
Literally so much to see that I could blow 500 characters of this review just listing things out so recommendation is to visit and wallow in the nostalgia for a few hours. And if you ever wanted to see Princess Diana's bicycle from when she was a child look no further

A chance to reminisce over toys you had or toys that you wish you had. Also a good collection of fairground machines.

Whilst the museum is good, lots to remind you of the 60s and 70s, I have to add that if you are disabled, then this is not the place for you.
It is a 250 foot steep climb up a hill.
There are also steps and stairs within the museum, and no lifts, a wheelchair if you can push up the hill, is a tight squeeze in the museum itself
Also the website says its £12, when in fact its £13.50 (website is out of date! ) no concessions for disabled either. (50p off for OAP)
Sadly disappointed.

What a collection! We came as part of a trip to Mountfitchet and were curious - it was amazing to see so many toys so well preserved, and some still working. We were there during a very quiet time and Marilyn Monroe scared the bejeezuz out of us. Highly recommended!

There were no visitors there when we visited, and it's a fairly small place, so social distancing could have been a problem. But there was a young lady in attendance to control entry.
It's well stocked with all sorts of stuff from a star wars exhibit to Dr Who and daleks.
As a 68 year old I could recognise many of the toys from my youth, so was a bit nostalgic.
Well worth a visit if you also visit the so called castle, which is in fact a wood lined fort.

Visited the Toy Museum as part of a visit to Mountfitchet Castle. It certainly contained a large number of toys and artefacts . A face covering has to be worn, however the displays are quite close to each other, and social distancing is a real problem.
However, with a little thought, a visit can be made into an enjoyable experience.

This place is crammed full of fascinating stuff and all ages would love it! An impressive personal collection - we loved the immense Star Wars collection! So much to see including dolls, teddies, Action Man, puppets, plus rock and roll memorabilia! Quirky and fun.

Can you visit the toy museum seperately from the castle?

I don't think so. We entered through the castle entrance; the castle entrance fee included the toy museum.
