The most spiritual place I have ever been to so far. The drive can be challenging but it’s worth it once you get there.

This is the last of the five confluences in Uttarakand and is located at Devprayag.
One needs to walk down 216 steps from the road and 108 steps from Raghunathji temple.
While returning one can go via the foot bridge and climb up only slopes.
After this confluence of Bhagirathi ( clean light blue water) and Alaknanda ( slightly muddy) Ganga gets it name.
The colours of both rivers is very visible.
Holyto have a dip in this Orayag

It is a spectacular sight to see two rivers with distinct colors combine to become river Ganga. Get here early in the morning(right after an early breakfast) for an enriched experience. Stop roadside to get an ariel view of the confluence and then walk down to the bathing ghat to enjoy the dip in the cold and refreshing water. Get spectacular views of the Bhagirathi river form the suspension bridge on the way to the bathing ghat. Just a fantastic and experience! Take time to visit the Raghunath temple while visiting the bathing ghat. Changing station/areas are available at the bathing ghat.

The confluence is a sight to watch. Taking a dip in the cold water relieves you if all misery in a sense.....

Amazing place to see the confluence. The Bhaghirathi befitting the description in the itihasa and Puranas, and Alakananda with the unfathomable depth merging with clear distinction in colour. Aerial view from the road is not to be missed. Getting to the ghat can be a challenge to the aged.

Confluence of Alakananda and Bagirathi rivers , One Green and another in brown color. This is the point where these two rivers converge and become Ganga River, the sacred and mightiest of all rivers in world. Good Place to visit, we have to go down about 1 km to reach the Prayag point.

Amazing confluence of river Bhagirathi with Alaknanda to form Holy Ganga, mother of all rivers.
Very serene place , where two rivers ( coming from different directions) merge with each other to form Holy Ganga. The place of sangam is very safe in seasons other than rainy , where you can sit & enjoy the beauty of sangam of two river currents with different colour shades.
A pilgrimage point on Rishikesh-Badrinath route.

Devprayag - I wanted to vist this place for long, and I made it. It is a small place and the approach road is very narrow and passing through a suspension bridge. I sat on a step for nearly half an hour to feel the bliss of this place. Many people were taking bath in the sangam.
A must visit for every tourist.
Taxi fare from Rishikesh is Rs.3570 (Less than 50 USD) for same day return with about 2-3 hours halt at Devprayag. Please get the taxi from Taxi Union's stand. Private operators are more expensive.

If you are visiting Garhwal region, you must visit this holy confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, the place from where Ganga gets the name. The confluence itself is beautiful. Two different colored rivers merging into each other to form river Ganga.

Can anyone tell me that how many steps are there in devprayag sangam

Not exactly but around 230- 250 steps will be there from the main road to the sangamam. but those steps are not like our stairs and are uneven, all are not at the same height. If you are planning to go with Elder people, then they might need some breaks in between.

hello. I am travelling to rishikesh with my parents both senior citizens. please can anybody tell me that what is the distance or approximate steps a person has to walk to reach the main that for bathing. my mother uses a stick to walk.

It's really difficult to take a bath there .. even for fully fit person.. but u and ur parents can enjoy the sacred silence.
U need to go down the road and it's quiet steep.. be extremely careful wid old personals
