A nice cottage that could be improved. It is in the perfect location for privacy although being a working farm you do see and hear occasional tractors. The view across the dam in lovely but outside seating could be improved.
The cottage is small but is clean and comfortable. The kitchenette is inadequate for full self catering with only a microwave and one hot plate. I had to warm our food in the microwave in a salad bowl which was all that was available. Insufficient bowls and dishes. The bathroom is not so good and needs refurbishment. The floor and shower are in very poor condition.
The hot tub worked well although the lid is very heavy to take off and is broken. The mentioned hammock does not exist.
We had a lovely lunch in the restaurant. The food was good and the staff friendly and efficient.
I would return for a long weekend simply for the location.

Elgin is a beautiful part of the Western Cape with stunning landscapes. Along with delicious wines, South Hills Vineyards has a luxurious large accommodation, perfect for a family visit. 12 of us were there for a nearby wedding and it was the perfect place to stay. hope to return one day!

We discovered this gem whilst spending the June 2019 long weekend in the Overberg region. When I first called the Friday evening to make inquiries, they were busy hosting a wedding and my call with Sandy was cut short. Low and behold, the next morning she called me back and even remembered my name! Kevin, the owner, welcomed us (and others guests) personally as we arrived. Both Kevin and Sandy were hands-on in the restaurant, serving guests food and wine and interacting with the guests all of the time. The food was delicious. The service attentive. The wine tasting a pleasant experience. What a treat!!! We'll definitely be back and are spreading the word....

This was my last stop before returning to Cape Town after 4 nights in the region and it was by far the best. I stayed in The Pumphouse and what an experience it was. It was so quiet and relaxing and peaceful. The property is surrounded by vines, as far as one can see, it leads out onto a small wooden dock that sits above one of the farms dams and sitting here early evening having dinner is just excellent.
The property has braai facilities and a hot tub (a bonus).
Breakfast was superb and Kevin the owner took the time to come and chat to me and this just added to the excellent service they provide.
All in all a great experience.

What a wonderful experience. I love that the staff and Kevin himself come and introduce themselves to you .
Our food was delicious , the service attentive, and we really enjoyed our wine tasting with Kevin .
We must have as we walked out buying 12 bottles . As a little treat he gave us an extra bottle at no charge . What a lovely gesture

Big Blue Sky Tours has had clients at South Hill for both lunches and overnight accommodation. Their responses have invariably been overwhelmingly positive.
They have enjoyed the very personal attention of owners Sandy and Kevin King who have gone out of their way to make our guests feel comfortable.
Kevin's guided vineyard walks and personal wine tastings have been highlights.

We went as a group and had a delicious lunch, starting off with three different Canapes to nibble between each wine tasting.
We all had a choice of Chicken, Beef, Gammon or Vegetarian pot pies with greens on the side and either panacotta, chocolate mousse or eton mess puddings. Finishing off with delicious coffee. We tasted five different wines, the Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Savignon, to my palate, the two most delicious wines.
Very nice room surrounded by art to buy on the walls. A warm crackling fire and a very good talk by the wine maker.

Some of the better wines in the area the tasting room has some amasing art and the Platter of pate was out of this world
