My visit to Siurana and my reflection
When I arrive in town (without any prior knowledge or to be able to decide , not even on the siuranaturisme.org page is mentioned) I find a gentleman , he tells me where I can park and then he takes out a ticket book , I ask him if you have to pay to visit the town and he tells me (I would need training in attention to the public ) behind him , there he says ......... wonderful way to "force yourself" after an hour and a half of travel.
Punctual, it's not the quantity it's the FACT, you can put verbs and adjectives to an action like this
No counterpart, there is distance to the population is a drop that is then a climb, people with lack of mobility, older people, etc.
Parking without supervision or liability (as indicated on the back of the ticket)
Closed church, if you want to pay 1 euro and light up,
Very nice village really, I was intending to eat in any establishment, but by the way. I didn't make any expenditure in the village, I've already visited, I know, I won't come back, we have a lot of wealth of places
Thank you.

It was a long winding road from Cambrils, but it was worth it.
Great views
Not suitable for children (even dangerous / risk of falling)

In the region of Priorat, between the Montsant Mountains and the Prades Mountains, there is one of those almost uninhabited villages (with less than 30 inhabitants) riddled with legends, built on the top of a cliff at more than 730 meters altitude, where medieval buildings and cobblestone streets extend. Its name is SIURANA, and any point in the town is a viewpoint with spectacular views around it, surrounded by ravines and torrents that flow into the Siurana Swamp.
Siurana is known for being the last Muslim fortress to fall during the Reconquest in Catalonia in the 12th century. In fact, you can still contemplate the remains of the castle at the same entrance of the village. One of the viewpoints is known as the Queen Mora Leap because of the legend that tells how the Arab queen preferred to jump off the cliff and die before falling into the hands of Christian troops (although this legend is also elsewhere, such as in the Ricote Valley of the Region of Murcia).
The main building is the church of Santa Maria, a simple Romanesque building of a single storey and semicircular apse that was built during the 12th and 13th centuries, in which the door stands out, very ornate and well preserved. Hiking enthusiasts will find in Siurana paths that descend to the swamp and that run alongside the vertical walls of the ravines; or others that show the remains of old mills and farmhouses.
It is Siurana one of those villages in empty Spain that is still very visited. In fact, tourists have ample parking at the entrance of the village, as it is not possible to access it by vehicle and the first part of the visit must be done walking along the road. And that is still an opportunity to start enjoying the views.

Beautifully restored mountain village on top of a mountain with 300 degree views all around. The road there through the gorge is already beautiful (you can't stop anywhere for a photo). There is a paid parking lot in front of the village entrance, then a 10-minute walk on an asphalt road. Beautiful views. Nice terrace of the refugio. Lots of good restaurants. Sober church with beautiful entrance. Old wash house and well. Well worth it (2-3 hours).

Completely restored, restoration of the semi-detached houses, there is nothing original except the church and the cemetery. Overcrowded by obligation you have to pay for a parking lot 600 meters away. Dead town for tourists and guides, a shame.
Magnificent landscapes as in the entire area.

Spectacular location and environment. Well-preserved town with restaurant and agricultural store services. Obviously, they have been organized to avoid crowding of vehicles with parking on the access road.
If you plan to eat in the same town, it is better to reserve. During the busiest days, at the beginning of the road, you will be asked for the reason for your visit.

At the top of a steep hill stands the town of Siurana. Its cobbled streets, its excellently preserved houses transport you to bygone times. The views over the reservoir, unfortunately almost empty, and over the Sierra del Montsant are advisable. Visiting in winter allows you to tour the town without the crowds that surely occur in summer. Parking at the entrance of the town, which allows you to walk peacefully. Due to its orography, it was one of the last Muslim strongholds during the Reconquest.

A winding road to climb, passing at the foot of cliffs very frequented by climbers.
In low season, we thought we could have lunch in the village, but everything was already reserved at the restaurant.
Beautiful view, nice little village and a bit of history. Mandatory parking, €3, 400 meters before the village which is a dead end.

On December 9, I made a dynamic visit to the town of Siurana (Tarragona), the little town is spectacular, the most beautiful I have visited to date, it is very well preserved and was magnificently decorated for the Christmas holidays.
As for the highly recommended guided tour, for adults and children, organized by CODOL-Educació, the guide Mar, a charm, explained the history of Siurana to us in an attractive and easy to understand way with some touches of humor, with the attendees participating. along the journey in the stories told.
A shame about the lack of water in the Siurana reservoir.

A little town, with only 21 inhabitants. The views are stunning, but if you are the type of visiting and reading about the history, you can't do it. Again, it's just for the view.

Planning to visit Siurana in late June. How many days should we stay? Is there a parador or something similar there? Where is a good place to stay? We would like to stay in an old stone building.

Buenas noches.
Siurana es un pequeño pueblo de encantadoras vistas a la montaña y lago. En el pueblo sólo hay un hotel, dos restaurantes y una pequeña tienda. A la entrada del pueblo hay un camping. Creo una noche es suficiente.
