I had been planning to visit this temple for the past 10 years. Yesterday Bhagavan Sri Iggutappa allowed me to have his darshan. Beautiful temple. The priest is very good. He offered good pooja. It was really a very good experience. Lord Sri Iggutappa is the most powerful God. I personally felt it. Request everyone to visit and seek God's blessings

This Subramanya/Igguthappa temple is a small, quiet and lovely abode. There is something calm and prayerful about it, It is maintained very well. It seems to be an important shrine for Coorgis. We went on a Saturday. That is when families offer "thulabaram". A family member on whose behalf a vow is taken, is weighed on a scale against grain or some other offering which is given to the temple. It was nice to see families assembled together to make these offerings. Coorgis dress tastefully and for this temple visit, they turn up in traditional silk sarees. The whole atmosphere was austere, at the same time celebratory! (I was in touristy casuals and I was a bit embarrassed!)

This was our second visit to this temple. Lord Subrahmanya had fulfilled many of our wishes after our first visit so we had to come back. The deity is known as Lord Igguthappa by the Kodavas. He is considered to be a provider of food and the one who fulfils his devotee’s desires. During the harvest festival, paddy is first harvested in the fields belonging to the Lord, and only then the people of Kodagu celebrate the festival.
The priest here meets each individual devotee personally and gives them his blessings. Even though we could not speak Kannada he got across to us very well and it felt good to talk to him and get the blessings of the God. He then took us to the kitchen where we received the ‘Maha-Prasad’ in the form of a full meal of rice, sambar and a sweet dish.
The temple is located in a very natural and beautiful setting, surrounded by hills and forests. It is definitely a must visit if you are in the South of Kodagu, and if you are a believer of the Hindu traditions.

The location of the temple is from any other tourist places in coorg. Lord Subrahmanya - Igguthappa is Idol and worshipped here.
We had the Prasad served at this temple during the lunch time and it was delicious.
Kodava style architecture is unique and eye catching. When we visited this temple it was less crowded and we peacefully worship and Darshanam the God.
Very peaceful and divine place.

Had been in the evening after the Nalknad Palace around 7PM - just in time for the Maha Mangalarathi.
Priest is very polite and gave the full info of the temple and asked to wear the Dothi - Temple Attire next time.

Beautiful and serene temple and a good starting point to know about the Kodava people and culture...

During one of our stays in Coorg we visited this temple. The approach to the temple is from the Virajpet - Tala Kaveri road and I guess was recently laid / repaired and was good to drive on. There was enough parking space around the temple. By the time we reached the temple it was around 10 AM on a sunday morning.
The location of the temple was far from any other distractions. The architecture also was unique Kodava style, with usage of both rocks for the walls and tiled roofs. The moment we entered the temple premises, one thing we noticed was the traditional attire of the Kodava ladies who were visiting the temple. We also found a lot of small kids all under a year being put in multiple cradles in an adjoining hall and it appeared as though this is another custom to bring the new born babies to this temple, as lord Subrahmanya (Igguthappa) is worshipped as a benefactor and protector of progeny.
We heard about the Prasad served at this temple during the lunch time from a lot of locals and other co-travellers who had already been to the temple. However, we could not partake the same as we had to leave the temple earlier than the lunch time.
Overall, it was a very peaceful place, not commercialized yet and radiates divinity.
