Coming from Norfolk- the flatlands! To visit Hull for a weekend, this is a spectacular feat of engineering! And the view is amazing, £1.50 to cross- each way, I’m not complaining but I don’t cross regularly, obviously!
I personally wouldn’t want to be crossing on a windy day though!

Not fit for purpose now, 3 booths both ways and only accept card payment so the teller has to wait till the card payment has gone through before the barrier opens, get rid of the booths and have cameras like Dartford… try to avoid!

Visiting Hessle to pick something up, we decided to call to the country park. Disappointing thst it was too windy to walk across the bridge, but we know we need a return visit in summer. The country park is well worth a visit too, but preferably when the footpaths aren't under water

My dearly departed dad, when visiting San Francisco and upon laying his eyes upon the legendary Golden Gate Bridge was heard to say,
'Well, it's no Humber Bridge is it.'
He spoke sense did my old man. Talked utter rubbish more often, but now and again a pearler came tumbling out of his mouth.
The Humber Bridge is a marvelous piece of bridge building. It still stands the test of time 43 years after it was erected and stopped people having to drive the long way round to get to the other side. And that took you through Goole. Never a good idea.
Once the longest single span suspension bridge in the world, it doesn't even make the top ten any longer. The longest is now almost 50% longer than the Humber Bridge.
It is, however, a stunning bridge and a genuine piece of recent history that deserves to be seen and used. It really is far better than the Golden Gate Bridge as well.

The views were amazing and the architecture was amazing. However the fact you have to pay is disappointing I am a regular user of this bridge and it annoyed me that I had to pay every time. The staff are always friendly and kind though.

We used the Humber Bridge to get to the P&O Ferry Port. Not living locally, we were following the sat nav telling us to keep right for our exit.
Only one lane was actually in use this particular evening due to high winds. As we followed the flow of traffic we realised we weren't passing through a booth but through a tag lane. We had no idea what this was and hadn't noticed any clear signage as to which lanes to get into.
I immediately went online and read in full the terms of paying the fee if missed. As we had just gone over the bridge our car wasn't yet on the site and could take up to 24hrs at which point we were in Europe with no WiFi. Not a problem I assumed as it said I had 72 hours to pay the toll, which I did the minute we arrived back in the UK.
Unfortunately their system twice said there was an error making payment, however both payments did come out of my bank. I then received a letter saying I hadn't paid, with now a £15 admin fee also applied.
I disputed this, and eventually got a reply saying they would withdraw the admin fee but to still pay the £1.50 (this is after I'd also provided evidence that I'd paid twice within their timeframe).
Now most people would say just pay the £1.50 and be done with it, but this is now about principle, I'd already paid - twice!!
I've now received a letter asking for payment with even more admin fees added. I will continue to dispute this, as although I admitted to being in the wrong lane and not initially paying, I did then pay within the 72hrs.
I also think the 45 day response time to emails is shocking, just goes to show how many disputes they must be dealing with.
£1.50 toll is a cheap charge compared to the M6 toll road which is extortionate, but they're clearly making their money via these admin charges.
If you have to cross the Humber bridge, just make sure you're in the correct lane to avoid this hassle.

Great to walk across. Free parking on the north side and about 2 miles over one side (we were lucky to be picked up!), or could walk back again

We viewed the Humber Bridge from Hessle Foreshore. An excellent location to take photos. A nice walk too.

Good views from the drive or walk across and there is plenty of parking at the end if you want to spend mre time there taking in the sights. For me tolls on roads and bridges are madness, we pay enough in taxes thatthey shoud be free; and motorists have been paying for years to use this bridge so even if tax does no go direct to road provision "we" must have paid many tmes over for the building of this beautiful crossing. Be sure to get in the left lane if you don't have a tag or you will have to hope some kind driver will let you in as you near the payment booths.

Hello, last time I went over the bridge from Yorkshire to Lincolnshire we tried to stop for lunch in the visitor centre. But we were in a Motorhome and there was a hight bar across the car park. The road was full of cars and no parking was available by the river side. Where can you park a motorhome for a rest break?

It is better to pay up, as you will be fined, so just like the other reviewer said, look on the website, and enter your details etc... the sooner the better, fines are never cheap.... hope this helps......

Hi I have checked on the website, the crossing is £ 1.50 for towing your caravan, for a single crossing.... as Sarah said in the previous reply to you, but I did check on the website just incase the price had changed...... hope this helps....

Planning to park on the North Bank and walk to the South bank. Are there toilets on both sides of the bridge? Is there a cafe on both sides? Can I walk across on one side of the bridge, go under it and walk back on the other side? Any helpful tips? Thanks a lot.

Loads of parking on North Bank and toilets, no similar facilities in South Bank, but we tend to walk a little further to the visitor centre at Barton, the facilities there are excellent, including food. Just for info, you can walk and go under to come back on the opposite side, but they sometimes have one side closed for remedial work & you may choose to do the same path depending on wind strength on the day - enjoy!
