Kettlewell is just the most beautiful place in Great Britain, I would recommend you visit but would avoid Bank Holidays if you can

Visited for the scarecrow festival today and what a fabulous time we have had! We had the best time doing the trail, admiring all the scarecrows, calling in to the village hall for delicious tea and scones and chatting with the very friendly lady selling raffle tickets.
We left armed with scarecrows to put in the garden at home and the biggest smiles on our faces.
Thank you to the village for all your hard work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your kind review! We really appreciate everyone coming out to support our community venture, the money raised through the sale of soup, cakes and drinks in the village hall, along with the parking and sale of trail sheets goes to support so many local community facilities and events. There is a Tuesday coffee morning at the Hostel for senior residents to get together and chat, and a playgroup at the village hall, cinema nights, village Christmas party and luncheon club all recieve some funding, but the majority of the money is split between the school, the church and the village hall to keep these vital resources open and well maintained.
We are very grateful for those who travel to visit us and hope that it will continue for many more years!

I used to visit kettlewell some 20 years ago and I have fond memories. Just returned for a 2 night camping stay. Village looks disappointing with many properties looking unkempt and the local pub staff not engaging with us and poor service. Just feels like the soul has died a bit in what was a thriving place setting in outstanding countryside. I hope it's just me and the rest of you have a better experience.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your 2 star review of our beautiful village, we appreciate your thoughts. Sorry to hear that you found our village to be unkempt over your two day camping stay here this year but I can assure you that the soul of Kettlewell has not died (not even a bit!).
Each year in the middle of August we have our annual scarecrow festival in which every household in the village makes a scarecrow for a visitor trail, everyone does their part baking for the pop up cafe in the village hall, and volunteers their time for the event. A real demonstration of our great community spirit - and a great value, wholesome day out!
It can be difficult to reconcile memories from 2 decades ago with current experience, maybe, what seems to be a so-so experience in one of the three pubs in the village has coloured your opinions of the homes of the people that live here. We hope that you manage to find better experience elsewhere in the future.

A beautiful, unspoilt Yorkshire Dales village with stunning walks in all directions even in January, during two major storms. 3 welcoming pubs, though the tearooms are closed at this time of year. The village shop has a very interesting selection of craft kits for sale along with necessary food items and newspapers. We loved our winter holiday here.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your lovely review of our little village! Although often unexpected, our village shop is an amazing treasure trove for anyone with an interest in crafts of any kind! You can of course pick up some essentials to get you started with a pint of milk or a loaf of bread, but there is so much more than that!
We hope that you find an opportunity to come and enjoy more of what our area has to offer!

We had the pleasure of visiting during the scarecrow festival. What is an already beautiful village was enhanced in atmosphere with the festival. Village well worth a visit.

The Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival takes so much time and effort to organise and run each year we are always so delighted that people come and enjoy a great value day out in this amazing part of the world. Given the cost of living crisis that we are all living through, it is good to still find something that the whole family can do for a day out which (if you bring your own picnic and only pay for the parking and a couple of trail sheets) you can do for under a tenner!

Beautiful Village with 3 amazing pub restaurants & 2 tea rooms. The properties & scenery are amazing. We have stayed on 4 occasions over the years & plan on another visit soon.

A group of 22 ladies stayed at Kettlewell independent YHA Hostel
We had fabulous hosts Saul and Floss
The food was amazing all freshly cooked
We gave this hostel 10/10 we will definitely stay here again .

The village Kettlewell is very fortunate to have not only a fantastic Youth Hostel, but three great pubs, an amazing campsite, a super shop, deli and petrol station! all in a village of only a couple of hundred people! We sincerely hope that you come back again soon!

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on TripAdvisor about our beautiful village, we really appreciate the support! many people (even experienced outdoorsy folk who come to stay in Kettlewell on The Dales Way) are surprised by how much the weather can change once your get out of the dale (valley) and up on to the hill tops. It is certainly a good idea to have an extra layer, especially if you are taking a break at the top of Great Whernside!

Although I visited Kettlewell many times before, there is something disappointing and depressing about paying £5 for a paper cup of tea and paper cup of coffee at the first cafe opposite the car park.
Can't even go in and you have to use the loo at the car park. Are things That Bad in the Yorkshire Dales?

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts about our lovely village on Tripadvisor, it is a great way to help other travellers find great new places and to help businesses improve the service that they provide. I'll pass on your comments to the cafe and very much hope that you find an opportunity to return to the village and maybe try something from the &then tasting Deli, the famously idyllic village shop or maybe one of the great pubs in the village.

I think that you are asking about Wharfe camp? it is just at the edge of the village on the road towards Starbotten, they have made some improvements this year and seem to be doing pretty well!
