I'm taking my parents to Tassie in feb 2016 and considering doing this cruise. My mum is not particularly mobile. Is there a lot of walking involved when you're off the boat? Do you recommend it for older people or is it a pretty big day out? Thanks.

Thank you so much for your question. This tour is designed to give visitors of Maria Island the chance to see the best sights without having to walk very far. The walk around Darlington is very easy and can be designed around customers specific needs. The distance from the boat to the convict settlement is approximately 800m with a very slight incline along the road. The gravel road is easy walking and customers can take their time on the tour. We do only cruise is good weather, as we encourage guests to move about the boat and enjoy the views. The only restrictions we have sometimes are wheelchair access, if a guest is required to stay in the wheelchair during the cruise. Other than that, I would be very happy to recommend it for your mum. We have lots of guests walking with aids and even one who brought an electric scooter for the tour on the island! Feel free to drop me an email or call my mobile if you would like to chat more about the tour (0408 313 nine zero four)
Ps. I agree with all of the above and thank you everyone for the kind recommendations! I do like to keep my boat clean HAHA
