You view the falls from below, and the path from the parking lot leads very close to the bottom of the falls. Easy to find, but note a low kph/mph road leads to the falls so no hurry. I am sure that the parking lot fills in the summer, but you can park along the road and take an alternate path to the falls. That path is just short of the parking lot. Two of the iconic red chairs are (were?) there during our visit.

On our first visit to Canada in 2016, we weren’t able to visit as it was too early in the season so we made sure to add it to our itinerary this time around.
The falls are located at the end of Yoho Valley Road which is a dead end road so you have to drive back the way you came.
The car park can get quite busy and you may have to wait to park if there are no spaces. There are washrooms available and plenty of picnic tables by the side of the river.
The famous red chairs are located just before the bridge at the start of the path that leads to the falls.
The walk to the falls from the car park is approximately 2km return over a good level path. The closer to the falls you get, the louder they become. You can feel the spray too.
We saw people climbing to the left of the falls. There is no path to walk this so we didn’t attempt it. Given the spray coming off the falls, I would think the rocks would be wet and slippery and probably not stable either.

I go to see it every other year when we drive by, always different, always beautiful, Canada second highest fall. On the way you have to see the 2 coloed creek to join too and the look out for the Spiral tunnel. Any time you visit you may think you be alone there, mistake. There is always lot of people any time of the day. It is a beauty.

Wow. Don't miss this tall, beautiful waterfall with a turn off just East of the Yoho National Park Visitor center in Fields. Road climbs up the mountain with a few short switchbacks halfway up that prevents large campers or vehicles pulling trailers. Tou srmtart to see the falls in the distance as you get closer. Once there the parking is abundant. We arrived around 930am at the end of September and there were anout a dozen cars in the first lot. Bathrooms are a bit hidden and not in the parking lots. A short, easy, flat walk brings you to the base of this gorgeous waterfall. You could get a kink on your neck just staring up at it. There are also several hikes with trailheads right there. We didn't do a hike and spent about 45 min there.

Nothing spectacular. It's a tall waterfall in Yoho National Park. A 15 minutes slow stroll will get you to the Falls. Can skip by.

Not ready for another hike, but not quite ready to go home? This is the place! Mid September was peopled but not crowded. Road has super tight switchbacks that I'd recommend an RVer think about - though, we did see one or two brave souls up there.

We had not been here since 2005 so we had forgotten how great these falls look. We took our friends from the UK for the 13 kilometer drive to the falls and it was well worth it. A nice hike takes takes you to a great viewpoint.

A pleasant surprise as a last minute side trip! Takakkaw Falls is taller and more awesome than expected! Plenty of parking and a short walk to the base where you can expect the spray to freshen you up all over...fantastic on a hot, sunny day!! Takakkaw Falls is a great photo-op, worth a detour from close-by Emerald Lake!

My wife and I along with our son visited the second tallest waterfall in Canada whilst driving through the Yoho National Park in British Columbia province in Canada. The experience was breathtaking and we took several pictures as we moved up closer to the falls right up to when we were right beneath the falls. The falls are one of the key tourist highlights of the Yoho National Park and are located not very far away from the Emerald Lake. A must-visit if you are exploring Yoho National Park.

The falls are pretty spectacular and I have never seen falls of that volume spouting from a mountain like that. I would put it on your to-do list. It's a short walk from the parking lot to the falls.

Hello!
How and from where do you access Takakkaw Falls? I will be in Yoho in July 2018. At this point, since the roads are closed, I can not use google maps to plan my trip. Where do I park? How long is the trail to get to see the falls? Thank you!!

If you are referring to the train tunnels, there is a view spot along the road, but at a distance. Not much to see if a train is not coming through. I noticed on maps and from pictures posted that there are trails to get better views, but I don't know much about them. Trying a Google search for that might help.
As for the falls, the previous reviewers did a nice job explaining it. in addition to their comments, I will add that July is wall-to-wall tourists in Banff & Jasper parks. I asked the park guides when the best time to visit is, and they said September because the tourists are gone and they said the roads don't get snow yet. I agree that you should not attempt to drive motor homes or large vehicles on the access road. The switchbacks are extremely tight and steep.

If the road is closed to vehicles can you ride a bike up to look at them?

Hello, I wonder how I will be able to identify the location of the two access points, lower and higher. Hoping for your response.

Hi, saw your review. How much of a walk is it down to the bottom of the falls area?

Nothing there but a rustic bathroom. The parking lot is small but paved. The walk to the falls is also paved and there is a relief map of the area, but nothing else. I find it a relief from the hustle and bustle of several other attractions in the area.
How long do you mean by 'longer RV's' please?

We managed to get there in a RV of about 24 feet. Wasn't a big deal
