This was a wonderful way to spend a few hours - away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, but very accessible!!

The gardens are large, with lots of different sections to keep you interested. We particularly enjoyed the hibiscus garden and the banana plantation but there are little gems around each corner, and the best bit? We had it almost to ourselves (and it’s free to enter)!!

Easy to reach via public transport - Chatuchak is the nearest station. Be mindful that when you exit the station you are in a different park. Walk through it (away from the station) and cross the road to get to the botanic garden. It’s pretty easy.

Grandioses Erlebnis. Für Naturliebhaber ein Muss. Es gibt neben riesigen Aussenanlagen diverse Hallen zu speziellen Themen wie Regenwald und Kakteen etc.

We arrived on a normal weekday. It wasn’t so busy around so we drove straight in…..and then straight back out because I refuse to pay their dual pricing policy of overcharging foreigners. I’ve lived here over 20 years, have a pan ID card and a Thai Driving license.

I hired a private driver to take me to the gardens and he also drove me between exhibits. The gardens are on the side of a steep mountain. It is not walkable between exhibits. Most exhibits are only partially handicap accessible.
Each Glass house had a different theme. Carnivorous plants and begonias were my two favorites. I’ve only seen succulents as big in Arizona.

Started the tour of the garden with the canopy walk, enjoying the great views. If you want to see birds, and if you bring binoculars, I think you'll see some. I could hear several different bird calls. Moved on to the greenhouse area. Ten separate greenhouses, each displaying different types of plants. Impressive collection of carnivorous plants. Orchid house was a little disappointing, mainly because I've seen so many larger collections. Very impressive tropical rainforest display, the largest of the houses. After, had a coffee from the shop at the uppermost parking lot. Good coffee for 45 thb. Really wanted to hike the trails on the interior of the loop road, but I ran out of time and energy (steep hills!). Also not enough time for the natural history museum, which looks interesting. Recommend if you ride a scooter up here, you get a larger bike with disc brakes, as the roads are too steep for cheap bikes to descend safely.

Got off the HopandGo bus (which is well worth doing) here.
We had an hour and a half before the next bus so paid the 100 ThB entrance fee each plus the 40 ThB each for the tram fare - which is necessary because it is impossible to walk around.
Things didn't start well when the tram driver had to be awoken from his sleep under a tree. He took us to the canopy walk - worth doing - and waited for us there. Then he took us to the far end of the Gardens where the green houses are. These were worth looking at too.
However, when we went back for the tram it was nowhere in sight. Unsure what to do and whether the tram would be returning, we walked down the road back to the canopy walk. There, a kind lady staff member rang the tram driver to come and get us; but, by the time he returned we had missed our bus! (Luckily for us there was another bus in an hour. The Gardens are a long way out of Chiang Mai so getting back could have been awkward.)
Why the Gardens don't have a regular timetable for the tram only they would know.
Unless you have your own vehicle don't bother coming here.

Disappointed in this venue. My parents are 77 and 79 and they did not give them the advertised senior pricing. The trails were in very poor condition so do not come here for a great place to hike. The canopy walk was the only thing worth seeing and it is 500 metres of a raised walkway with nice view of the nearby mountain. Closes when it rains apparently though. So plan accordingly. Spent 700 baht for four people to basically go on a few KM drive through the jungle (but it’s basically the same view as the road to get to QSBG. Nothing in bloom in October, not even an orchid in the orchid greenhouse. We had hoped to take my parents to Bhuping Palace gardens but it’s closed right now. I definitely recommend those gardens over Queen SiriKit botanical gardens.

Hermoso lugar, merece el desplazamiento. Si te interesan la naturaleza y el senderismo, puedes disfrutar mucho la visita. Es para dedicarle una mañana/jornada entera. En los alrededores, hay un insectario y un serpentario.

If you haven't been and have a spare few hours would definitely recommend a visit. It is absolutely beautiful, the walkways the gardens and then a cute little gift shop at the end.

We went there 3 people, 2 foreigners one resident but can’t argue with 150/p and 100 for Thai as senior so free include 100 for a car. We went there many years ago and hope it will be the same or little change. That’s fine for the money we spent. Quite disappointing as no maintenance in most of them. Lack of care as they charge for entry fee to see such a poor plants, flowers, etc. canopy walk is ordinary as trees around are quite dry and view is not better. Toilet are not as pleasant with lacking of care as well. We spent 400 baht, waste of time as it is not close, money and no more.
