There are some bad reviews on here, and maybe the service is slow in the high season, but we had an excellent experience. We were visiting from USA. Our service was fantastic (Vincenzo rocks!), the food was good! We'd definitely come back.

Dizem que a famosa música italiana "Funicola ?" vem daqui. É uma espécie de bondinho/trem que liga a Marina de Capri até a parte mais alta da ilha. Achei bacana. É a forma mais barata e rápida de fazer esse trajeto. A vista é muito bonita. Cuidado, apenas, com as longas filas durante o verão.

There is a bit of queue and buying tickets is a bit confusing. The ticket office is away from the tram.
Of course there is a mad rush to get onto the tram, but the trip is only 5 mins.
A good way to avoid the steep walk.

My husband & I were on vacation to Sorrento and took the ferry over to Capri/Anacapri for a day trip.
This was the first time riding the Funicular (Tram) so we really didn't know where to purchase tickets.
We first went to the Tram area & a gentleman told us to go across the street to the ticket office, which was very crowded, and had such a long line.
We purchased our tickets to go up to the main piazza in the upper Capri area but when we got back to the loading area of the Tram, there was such a big crowd.
The ride up was reasonable priced and was a smooth ride which only took about 5 minutes.

We had tickets for a roundtrip ride so when we were ready to return down to the Marina Grande it was not so crowded as before.

Безусловно, самый быстрый способ добраться на верхнее Каприот порта Марина Гранде. Билет в августе стоит 2.40 в один конец на человека, открыт с 6.25 до 22.45. Таким образом, можно посмотреть верхнее Капри в любое время. Самый пик приходится на утро и день, когда сюда приезжают туристы с экскурсиями на один день. И тогда образуется длинная очередь. Но этот вариант все же предпочтительнее, чем автобус. Дорога узкая, извилистая, ехать уморишься по жаре. Попадаешь наверх сразу на площадь с кафе, магазинами, ресторанами, обзорными площадками. Днем тут не так кочегарят, как вечером. После 19 тут самая тусовка. И фуникулер практически пустой, что радует. Так что мы сюда приезжали вечером, после 17.30.

Excelente opción para llegar al centro de Capri si no se tiene mucho tiempo para subir las escaleras. Salidas constantemente 15 minutos poco mas o menos y costo accesible. El recorrido se hace en menos de 5 minutos.

Utilizzato questo mezzo per scendere velocemente al porto di Marina grande. Evitando i tornanti con i bus e godendo del panorama si fa in fretta ed è consigliabile se non ci sono code. Si vede Capri ancora da un altro punto di vista.

Very crowded, long lines to get on both at the top and the bottom. Plan accordingly if you have a boat to catch.

Cuando llegamos parecia una locura de gente pero la espera no es tanta y realmente vale la pena, el ahorro de tiempo y energia lo vale totalmente. El tiket se saca en un kiosco cercano, no en el mismo lugar donde funciona el funicular, atentos.

We were in Capri on a Sunday and decided to take the funicular to the top. Wow! So many people. But it seemed like a good way to get to the top. Would be a tough walk.
From the top we walked to the Gardens of Augustus. From the garden (small entry fee) you have a spectacular view of the sea.
The funicular doesn’t provide much of a view but it’s worth it to get to this view!

When I arrive at the marina and take the funicular up, can take a bus up there to the base for the chair lift up to Mt. Salerno, or do I have to come down again to the marina to get the bus?

Hi there you can get bus from bus station in Capri after you get off the funicular or you can get a bus from Marina Grande to Anacapri

When you get onto the wharf (we arrived by high speed boat from Naples), you look for the sign that reads "Bigletti Funiculare" (the ticket booth is near the entrance to the tram.) If in doubt, just ask. "Señor/Señora, dove bigletti di funiculare, per favore?" Or just speak English! LOL!
We went on our own in Capri. Read up about it so you can decide what you want to see if you have limited time. Most people take a boat tour (pricey) to see the Blue Grotto. You can get there by bus too, but it's a long ride through the mountains. The buses are very cheap, but they drive like crazy, yet no one has an accident. We went up the Funiculare to Capri town, and then took a bus to Ana Capri (walked around the lovely town, checked out the boutiques and churches), also went to Marina Piccola, rented a pricey boat (just us) to see the Faraglioni (the three tall rocks in the sea) and the White Grotto. Where you land from the ferry/jets is called the Grand Marina. Makes for a lovely day.
From Sorrento, you might have to check the ferry schedules online. I am sure they go to Capri. I didn't go to Sorrento this time.

Hola vicu70, te consulto, sería conveniente apenas llegamos tomar el funicular hasta Anacapri y luego ir bajando no? Digo por los horarios de los ferry a la vuelta.

The funiculare goes from the Grand Marina to the town of Capri directly above it on the mountain top. It does not go to Ana Capri, which is another town on a different mountain top. Take a local bus from the TOWN of Capri to the town of Ana Capri.
