Visited this little museum accompanied by my two Grandsons, ages 13 and 15. We had the place to ourselves, apart from two helpers who delighted the boys by demonstrating some of the old machines. They were patient with boys and chatted with them, talking about times past. For my part, I was constantly saying to the boys that, "we had one of those at home when I was a boy". Seventy years slipped by in a couple of hours. I was invigorated, my Grandsons amazed that I had survived a young life without TV, mobile phone, washing machine, fridge. How could you live with newspapers and a meat-safe?
A real gem, more exhibits than you could imagine and all in plain (touching) sight. My gk's learned a lot. Thanks.

Great museum. A must see if visiting Bowraville. Lots on display. My favorite was the static steam engine.

This folk museum is great. Very organised. $5 entry fee. So much history here. From clothes to lawn mowers. An old church and boarding house are also included in the museum.

Grew up locally and back visiting family we made the short scenic drive out to Bowraville to visit the museum and grab lunch at the lovely old local pub. Museum was great value at $5ea and host was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Range of local and period items on display were really interesting and well layed out. Interactive highlight was trying a ladies side saddle ( seen it on tv - downton abbey - and always wondered how on earth they didn't fall off and break their necks.)
If you are in town take a wander too and visit some off the little stores. We found some lovely hand made items. These great little historic towns need visitors to keep them ticking along. We had a great value tasty meal at the towns pub which is a beautiful old building with detailed woodwork and pressed tin ceilings and great beer garden out the back.

We drove to Bowraville to do the "history walk" Most of the buildings were closed or empty, and we didn't bother with the Folk museum as there was a charge to go in. The theatre was shut, and the Military museum was at the end of our walk around the town,so we didn't bother to venture in. There was nothing remarkable to visit or see..and other than the Community Health Services and the Doctor, there wasn't many people about. There were two shops that had animals to greet you,but that was the highlight of this tiny dead end town.

Not much to do in Bowraville, so went to the Museum, and SO glad we did.!
What a magnificent collection from the olden days and the pioneers of the area, including an actual rebuild of Ryan's cottage, makes you appreciate what we have to day, and how those people lived (struggled) back then
Just so much to see, be prepared to spent AT LEAST an hour here

If you are with older folks or younger folks, this museum is interesting. There is a lot of authentic military knick-knackery to make it a valuable collection of the first and second world wars, as well as other skirmishes of the past century. It is interesting to see the effect those wars had on the local community...which gives insight to the history of the area, the indigenous peoples and the early settlers who pioneered the region.

What a treasure trove of wonderful exhibits ranging from domestic, health, religious to agricultural activities in early years of Bowraville and district - and Australia for that matter. Exhibits are over a large area but essentially undercover. Would be a great introduction for older primary school children [and adults] to how their forebears lived. Saw some items that have only seen on Antiques Road Show.
Sadly I suspect future operation will be impacted upon by availability of volunteers to run it. On day we visited only the one volunteer on duty. I am so happy that my wife and I were able to see it.
