Secret about Canmore: You and your lower class families are are not welcome here .

This place is essentially reserved for the upper-class, elitists snobs from Northwest Calgary. In an analogy. If Calgary was Rome, Canmore is the equivalent to Calgary's Pompei.

Not a fun hike if you are homosexual, minority or any form of disability. Canmore is the unofficial redneck crown Jule of Alberta and its segregating upper-class intend to keep it this way. They will do this by any means possible. These are the most unethical people in the world, there are no limits to what some people from Canmore are capable off.

I am afraid to even stop at the Mcdonalds now that the gangs from NW Calgary are manifesting here.

the locals will spit on you and shout rude things. This is a dangerous place for driving as the Calgarians who live here are known for street harassment and discrimination.

It's a must do classic, and one of the easiest hikes around Canmore to get to.

Take your time, it's a steep climb all the way up. Can be done by all skill levels summertime when there is no ice or snow. Be prepared for strong wind at the top.

The trail has had some upgrades done to it. Spray Lakes Road is getting work done to in 2022 and the road will be closed.

Road open on weekend when they are not working on it. Need park pass and can get before at office $15. Hike probably tougher at bottom with change in elevation than rock scramble on top. Poles will help for sure. Very windy at top so can't stay too long if wind gusts. If you are lucky enough there is a small shelter someone made at top to protect from wind. Also check out the ridge walk to Miner's peak at the saddle. Tricky if windy. Worth while hike. Not as bad as it looks in picture. It ain't an Angels Landing (Utah) where people fall off. Nice views of Canmore and distant mountain ranges of Banff & of course Mt Rundle.

Took about 4 hrs (prob 3hr if not stopping and taking photos)

Go early for less people and less likely for wind gusts at the top

The trails are well maintained and there are even stairs near the summit for some of the steeper grades. We had heard that it was less than 2 hours, I am sure for some people - not for me and my family... but we made it!! The view is spectacular, but tie your gear down when you get to the top - the wind was intense. We were fortunate that there was very little smoke in the air, so the photos from the top were worth the hike.

There are some people who literally run up and down this hill - watch out for them. The ones who passed us were polite and careful - I kept checking to see if they were being chased by a bear or something. I recommend walking sticks if you don't hike a lot as the decent can be hard on your knees and bring water. There isn't a bar at the top, although I did hear people telling themselves that there was as motivation.

You're in for a climb on a rebuilt trail system and it's worth every step up! Your legs will be aching but taking your time will allow to see a view that gets better and better. At the top, the view is breathtaking and if you're lucky, you'll be looking down on clouds beneath you. Amazing.

Popular 3-4 hour up-and-back hike to see amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Last part of hike involves scrambling on rocks so wear shoes with good traction if you want to reach the peak. Parking lot fills up early, especially on weekends. Outhouse located at parking lot. Trail starts across the street from the parking lot. 5.8 km round trip, up to height of 2474m. Brought 1 L water which was sufficient because weather was not hot.

This hike is doable almost all year round as long as it is not super cold or in middle of snowstorm or other bad weather. Hundreds of people do this hike every day. I started just before the sun came up at 7:45 (Dec 6). It was about -1C at the base. Very comfortable weather until above the tree line where it was super windy and probably -10C with the wind chill.
There is hardpacked snow and ice on the trail. You really should wear micro spikes.
Strong hikers can do the full hike in about 2.5 hours. Might take up to 5 hours for weaker hikers.

Drove over to the Ha Ling Peak trailhead on October 24 and decided to head west instead of east onto Ha Ling. We found High Rockies Trail and did a slow 3 hours along the water which was a lovely, easy trail despite the snow. I was really hoping to see some wildlife with no luck; however, the mountain views were just spectacular.
