If you want peace and quiet definitely DO NOT come to this park. During the day, there wasn't a 10 minute interval where there wasn't at least one dog barking frantically...but usually more than one because they feed off each other. The only time things were "quiet" was after 10 pm.
The bathrooms are disgusting and not cleaned often enough...parents, teach your children how to use a public bathroom WITHOUT urinating all over the seats....and flush when you are done; I don't need to see your deposit.
The showers were brutally hot in the closest bathroom, so I had to walk another 100 yds to another one to keep from being scalded. There is no control over water temperature, it's done behind the scenes.
The beach in the campground/RV section was nothing but rocks, so we had to take a 15 minute walk to the sandy side.
Nice sunsets...but not going back anytime soon.

It was a very windy, but sunny day. Walking along the beach was exhilarating, you can walk for miles. The scenery is spectacular.

We went when the tide was out and the beach was MASSIVE! Various sections were smooth, rocky, mucky, sea weedy, or with tidal pools...lots to see and investigate. Trails galore! Tons of driftwood and just behind the beach is a really nice mature forest.

Stayed for 3 night at the sites located before the gate entrance.
Nice spots, and very close to the beach....3 min walk.
Trails everywhere for riding/walking.
5mins into Parksville if you need anything

This surely must be one of the best, longest beach walks in Canada. The huge Douglas fir, spruce and cedar trees of the Park are amazing and right beside the beach. Excellent campground as well like all BC provincial parks.

Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park is well-worth the drive: plenty of parking, bunnies, eagles, clean paths, wide-open beach...good thing coyotes don't know about it eh?

Even though the weather was quite foggy we enjoyed our morning walk. The path is very well kept. The loop from the parking lot and back clicked us in at just over 4kms. Definitely recommend.

Killer ocean views with miles of walking trails amongst majestic big trees. Heavyly used park in alsorts of weather. It is now my favorite walking spot on the island

Beautiful park with a great walk way along the ocean. The beach is beautiful and the rabbits that have moved in are destructive but fun to watch

The forest is very close to the city of Parksville. Easy commute by car. There is lots of camp sites in the forest. The place looks safe. One can walk along the walk or take the trails in the forest. Relaxing to spend an entire day.

Is there still sand dollars in the sand in January?

Qualicum Beach, Canada30 bidrag
Yes there are - but you need to go to the beach on a day when you can walk to the water's edge at low tide. In January the beach can be windy, cold and wet - but dress appropriately and it is an exhilarating place to visit.

No Rathtrevor Beach does not have electrical hook ups. We have to use our generator.
It doesnt look like that is going to change anytime soon either.

How does the dog beach compare the the regular public beach area? Is the dog beach Sandy?

Dogs are not allowed on the beach in the Park. Dogs can be on the beach adjacent to the park in the San Pariel area. It is a mixed beach of rocks and sand. Best at low tide. You are strongly encouraged to keep you dog on a leash particularly if there are other people on the beach.
