Great place to visit. Music featuring local artists every Sunday, 1-3pm. Bring your lawn chair. Admission by donation. Yesterday G Willy was awesome. Open for visits and tours Thursday to Sunday 10-4.

My friend and I went to the railway days that the museum puts on every year. The train exhibits were great and the people were a joy to talk to. There is even a year round model train setup in one of the buildings. There was a lot to see and do, and we spent at least 3 hours looking around and talking with people. There were 2 blacksmiths creating different works of art. A day out well spent.

We really enjoyed our visit to this local museum. It isn't flashy or the most modern, but it does have some wonderful local buildings scattered around the grounds and some wonderful photographs of the development of Parksville. There are some wonderful local stories of the people and buildings including the local hotel, which really add a flavour to the place where we were staying.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this place. It's not that expensive, about $7 each. No refreshments here but they do have toilets and the staff are very friendly. Plenty of places to sit outside.

The museum seems to be constantly getting better and updating every week! The exhibits are interesting and different from anything else in the area. Great spot to do something fun with the kids while also learning. Beautiful gardens with picnic tables to enjoy your lunch while touring the grounds. Wonderful!!

After the beaches, the woods, the malls the cafes and all of it, here is something different. We especially appreciated the available benches and picnic tables which allowed us to sit in the shade and talk about the exhibits and to simply enjoy feeling as if we were connecting with past lives, former residents, from long ago.

Looking from the entrance is deceiving, looks like a building or two. Once inside it has 9 buildings dating from different times with most pre 1900. Each building is laid out with displays and the main building has a quite a range of items. Favourites, the cougar, 1950 Ford fire engine, Montrose school.
Good for 1/2 hr to an hour depending on interest.

Not the best museum by far but not the worst way to spend a rainy afternoon. A little bit dated but still somewhat educational. And the markets that are held there are pretty cool.

Our 13 year old daughter wanted to visit the museum while we were vacationing in Parksville. Very quaint little set up with vintage buildings, furnishings and equipment from the early 1920's. Lots of pictures from the past, with detailed explanations. Very well done, inexpensive and we all enjoyed it.

We called in to the museum as we were passing on foot. Spent a couple of hours looking through the various exhibits, interesting information regarding the history of the surrounding area. School and the McMillan House of 1885 were particularly good.
