Our family spent a week in Oxford so my son and I decided to rent a car to visit the 95th BG Museum. Well worth the trip. Beverly and Alan were welcoming, kind and very dedicated to keeping the history of this storied Group alive. Words can't describe the feelings we had touring the museum and grounds. They both accompanied us and carefully explained the story of '"The Red Feather Club", tales of the base and the soldiers and how the people of the town grew to love their "boys". Alan was just a youngster during the war and was befriended by the soldiers. He told us some great first hand stories that we'll never forget. Their passion was inspiring. If you are interested in WW2 or enjoy history do not miss visiting this area and the 95th BG Museum.

We came here on an excursion from our cruise ship docked in Yarmouth, on our way to celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. If history interests you, I can tell you this is not a visit I will ever forget. Any student of WW2 knows of the valiant performance by the Allies in the air. The scale of the airfields (they were actually more like today's bases), the numbers of men and airplanes involved, was much more moving than I would have thought before coming. The museum there is fascinating and easy to navigate, so well curated. When we arrived, a large group of locals in the dress of the time--military attire and the ladies dressed in period attire--greeted us and extended personalized hospitality that was so appreciated. They laid out a full English tea for us, had an open bar, and had a live band that started the tea with a beautiful rendition of our national anthem, followed by an hour of swing dancing demonstrations by their accomplished local swing dancing team. They offered their own anecdotes of what went on here "when the Americans arrived," and took us out to the actual (preserved) runway where Flying Fortresses and other bombers took off thousands of times to fly missions over mainland Europe. The danger of these missions felt very real when we saw the reality of what went on in this area. The jeep tour (in authentically restored vehicles) took us around the tiny village--at that time without running water, sewer, most houses had no electricity- upon which thousands of Americans descended in a short period of time and stayed till the war was over. The beauty of this part of England, the hospitality and gratitude of the locals who apparently do this all the time, the momentous significance of this ground, and everything we learned combined to make for a fabulous day. Totally authentic, a step back in time, like every WW2 movie you ever saw. Don't miss this one.

FABULOUS PLACE!
This is not just a museum, it’s a living, thriving tribute to the many who served here and a real insight into their way of life and their interactions with the local community. The displays are beautifully curated and the fully stocked bar and dancehall (with the best dance floor around) help to bring the place to life. You can sit and just imagine how many men passed through those doors and drank and danced the nights away before heading off on potentially their last mission. Regular events and open days are all manned by a special group of dedicated volunteers who are both knowledgeable and passionate about the place - always evident at every visit. It is possible to imagine the place as it was with many in period dress with old jeeps adding a recognisable hum to the local area.
This is one of the best places to visit for miles and you won’t be disappointed - something for everyone. One of a number of local airfield museums, all of which are wonderful, this one is the beacon!

Very impressive , remarkable to see what they have achieved in building up the museum from decades of decay in the buildings that make up the museum.

Outstanding visit! The memorial museum was opened up especially for us and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We were welcomed with open arms and provided us with a wealth of information. The museum itself is a wonderful tribute to those who served there and I tip my hat to Alan Johnson who has dedicated himself to remembering these brave souls. His tireless work would no doubt make the men of the 95th extremely proud. Well done to all that made our day special and thank you to all that served. A must visit memorial

What a fabulous find during a family holiday to Suffolk. We weren’t sure what to expect but had a wonderful morning exploring all the different artefacts and stories that the museum had to offer. What really made it though were the warm and welcoming volunteers who taught us so much. My 12 year old son in particular was thrilled to hold some of the weaponry (under the guidance and support of the volunteers) in the military police exhibit whilst being taught all about them. Would highly recommend.

We have visited many USAAF/RAF museums over the years and even volunteer at our local one, but have to say this place is one of the best.
From the warm welcome shown to us by Robin upon entering the site to the ladies on the front desk, the volunteers here are excellent.
The displays are extremely professional with many interesting and invaluable exhibits linked to this airfields history.
We met Alan, one of the original restorers/owners of the site whose knowledge was infectious.
We only wished we lived closer as would love to attend one of the dance evenings that are so popular.
Can not recommend enough!

What a joy!! From the bar, the museum and the dance floor. Very friendly volunteers and knowledgeable as well. All the exhibits are from the surrounding area too. Amazing amount of work has gone into this special place, and continues to be in upkeep. Was lucky enough to attend a dance. What a fantastic and memorable do. Loved the entire experience. Will go again.

It’s always a pleasure and privilege to spend time at the Red Feather Club. The volunteers are so knowledgeable and friendly and the dance hall has one of the best dance floors in Suffolk. The museum is absolutely fascinating - we’re so lucky to have this on our doorstep!!
