We hiked the Lower Falls Trail and East Canyon Trail, totaling 10.7km with an elevation gain of 295m, taking 2 hours and 28 minutes .
The overall route was relatively flat, but some sections had cobblestone paths, which were a bit tough on the feet.
The Lower Falls Trail was easy to walk, with no difficulty at all. After reaching the waterfall, you can return the same way. The water at the waterfall was quite clear.
Along the way, we saw a school taking children out for an autumn outing (seems like schools here often have outdoor activities on Fridays, they looked very happy).
It only took us 30-40 minutes to reach the waterfall, and we felt it was too short, so we decided to climb up to the East Canyon Trail .
The climbing section was the hardest part of the whole journey, requiring the use of hands and feet. Along the way, there were colored ribbons tied to trees indicating directions.
The East Canyon Trail had a slight incline, overall relatively gentle, but with quite a lot of cobblestone paths. The park was quite humid, with small streams often flowing over the trail, making it damp. Along the way, you'll pass a small bridge with excellent scenery.

The North Parking lot and the road up to it is closed due to rain damage to the road. Park along the side of the road and walk in. Go earlier in the day as I find when I leave around noonish, I pass by many people, kids, dogs coming in.
A good hike in. Younger people would say it is a nice walk 😄
I will go back in the summer.

Great views and chillaxing provincial park! Soaking in all the wilderness has to offer. Lots of things to do and see! This park gets really busy during summer! Allouette Lake is accessible if you want to explore the area and maximize your visit.

Beautiful area but DO NOT CAMP AT S8 in Gold Creek Campground.
Children screaming and crying all night, it is right across from the washroom so there are people cutting through the plot to get to the toilets, you can hear the toilet flushing LOUD every 5 seconds, and there is no privacy. NOT GOOD FOR COUPLES WHO WANT PRIVACY.
The site would be great for families who don’t mind crying babies, but not for those who are not yet parents or don’t like children.
There is absolutely no cell reception, which was very nice. And the area is very beautiful. This plot is just terrible, you hear people talking on their way to the washroom all night, flushing, and walking through your plot to take a shortcut.
We are supposed to spend another night tonight but we left early.

We hike the many trails, but bikes and horses also have a venue.
All levels of fitness are welcome, from level lakeside and riverside, to gruelling mountain ascents.
We also kayak on Alouette Lake, mind the wind though!

We drove to the end of the road to take the hike up to the falls, and had a lovely experience. Pretty easy hike, 2.5km each way and not too much elevation, with plenty of scenic views along the way: mountains, forest, river, and a small waterfall at the end. One downside was the really rough gravel road for the last few kms before getting to the parking for the trail, easily done in most any car but a very poor gravel road with a lot of potholes.

The setting is beautiful of course. The campground is well patrolled by the park managers. However the potholes in the road to the campground and around the campground at Gold Creek are up to 12 inches deep. The access to the beach from the campground is good except for the last bit at the beach. It is loose, sandy gravel on a steep slope. It is hard for those with mobility issues to get to the beach. The trail around the campgrounds are in need of some work too.Washrooms were clean.

This park is well worth a visit if you just want to get back to nature. Hiking trails, lake area or boat launch is available for everyone. I understand you need a day pass if you want access during this busy COVID times. Day pass accessed online the day of your visit.
