1 indre by bus, og deretter 2 flere busser.

Excellent visit beyond expectations. Traveled by Car from Kunming with combined visit to Stone Forest and the Jiuxing Caves. Car arranged by Grand Park Hotel, Kunming for 900 RMB for about 10 hours. Need to leave by about 8am to ensure not rushing. Minimum three hours needed to fully explore the caves. Start off taking the elevator down to the river (it is also possible to walk down the steps through the forest). The cave entrance in the gorge over the river was good, but once inside the system - was more impressive. Extensive lighting throughout to highlight the features. The large lion cave was impressive - make sure you look at the extensive rock and fossil collection in the raised platform area. there is also an exhibition of prehistory in the site and a cafe in the lion cave. Leaving the lion cave there is a confisning bilingual sign - with the english wording asking visitors to go down to the twin waterfalls before going up to visit the fairy cave. The chinese says the opposite. Follow the chinese version and climb to the right to visit the Fairy Cave (the most spectacular cave with many pillars and Stalagmites - all with multi-colour lighting and a path that winds its way around the wall and ceiling of the cave. From the fairy cave the path drops down and crossed a bridge and then enters another cavern with the twin waterfalls and a cascade on rimstone pools dropping down the cave wall. Throughout the cave there are several photo points where your photo can be taken against key backgrounds. The touts say it is free but if you read the notice that is only for a small 2x2cm photo for a key chain - the larger prints are RMB20 ( anyway a good memento). At the last cave there is a "so called Yi Village - but basically a few shops selling food and souvenirs and the photos that were taken on the way through th cave. the way out is up 300 steps in a tunnel and cave. One emerges at the start of the cable car - but on the day of the visit it was not functioning - so we had to walk out which was quite a tough 25 minute climb. There is an alternative to travel on horseback. Back at the entrance there are plenty of souvenir shops and eating spots including one halal restaurant.
Beyond expectations and highly recommended

We were pleasantly surprised by the size and uniqueness of this cave complex. It was not originally on our itinerary but having a spare day our host encouraged us to visit. We took a driver for the day (200RMB) from Shilin Ethnicity Village and it was a 40 minute drive.

I would skip the boat ride. It simply goes up a small (artifically raised) river through a canyon and back again- 5 minutes at the most. The space between the seats on the boat are small and I spent most of the time with the lady infront of me leaning back into my lap while she took photos of her friends. It wasn't worth the time it took to queue and dress (helmets and life jackets).

However the caves are worth seeing- they are simply huge. The biggest I have every experienced by miles! It was amazing to still hear the water gushing through them and to think about the thousands of years it has taken for them to be created. The stalactites and stalagmites are huge and although they are lit using all sorts of colored lights it actually helps highlight many of the interesting features. The twin waterfall and plateaus are also cool to see.

We took the cable car back to the car park- it took us about 2 and a half hrs to go through the whole complex (we take lots of photos!). Better than expected- worth a visit.

4. Take CNY, there is no currency exchange facility here and Visa and Master Card don't work here.
This natural wonder is a large clustered karat caves combining with river, underground waterfalls, forest, gorges, all in one. There are about 100 plus karts caves of different sizes. The area is large and out of five regions, only Diehong Bridge region is fully developed and open for visitors currently. Diehong region has six major scenic area- green shady valley, white elephant cave, goddess cave, lying dragon cave, bat cave and scenic cable car.
I visited the place on 24th Jun 2019 from Kunming. We took a car from our hotel in Kunming and combined Stone Forest and Jiuxiang (40 minutes drive from Stone Forest) and paid US$ 170. As you enter, an elevator will take you down about 175 feet. you experience Terrifying Gorge, about 700 metre long and 100 metre deep canyon. It's a beautiful underground canyon with pathway built on it's right side. The view of the gushing water is terrific. The Male Lion Hall is another beautiful area inside, a nature created hall of 15000 sq meters without any pillar. It is the largest underground hall of the World. At the entrance, you can identify a lion shaped stalactite figure. There are beautiful satalactite natural rock formation inside. The area is colourfully lit with artificial lights. However, the best of the lot is the Lying Dragon Cave. A dragon shaped underground river passes through the hall with two natural waterfalls , 30 metres high, cascading down forcefully into a pool at a depth of 10 metres. Ita simply mesmerising sight. Immediately after this area you can see beautiful Rimstone Dam. It is a natural layered steps with small pools of water. Beautifully lit with golden artificial light, it simply looks heavenly. Bat Cave is the final area . Known as the underground stone forest, here you can see stalactite and stalagmite rock formations hanging all around , that looks like forest of sculptures created by mother nature. However, be careful from bat droppings and expect staunch from the bat community flying all around the cave. After this there is a steep climb of about 300 metres, which is stressful. You can hire human lifted chair service. They charge CNY 75 pp. Advisable, if you have problem of climbing steep stairs. This climb shall lead you to the cable car, which shall take you over the deep forest area to the exit. The ride is about 10 minutes.
It was a out of the world experience
There are plenty of restaurants, souvenirs shop and toilet facility at the entrance and inside as well.
A must see landmark, if you are in Kunming and if you do not suffer from any of the problem as highlighted in the advisories mentioned.

The route starts with a short boat ride along a narrow canyon which is largely forgettable and hardly worth the hassle of having to put on life jackets and helmets. After that it’s a short walk into the cave system itself along walkways built into the face of the canyon wall. The cave is not very long but there are numerous steps to climb although those having problems can simply pay to have locals carry you though on a sedan chair. The cave is quite large and the highlight is a small series of limestone terraces along with the more usual cave formations including a waterfall. Just before exiting the cave, avid photographers can capture a picturesque shot of a chinese bridge framed by the mouth of the cave and gorge. Lastly, queue up to catch the car-lift back to the start point. We visited almost towards the later part of the afternoon when crowds had thinned out and it took about two hours all in. Turned out better than expected. Recommended.

Wow! The mammoth size of these caves is dumbfounding. The beauty of the rock, the limestone, the variety of formations of rock and water all make for a wonderful experience. You need good walking shoes, and it takes about 2-3 hours of walking up and down stairs - its can be slippery but there are handrails throughout (though you can pay some "sherpas" at the end to carry you if you prefer).
You do feel a little bit like Frodo following Gandalf through the Moria....
It works well to do Stone Forest and the caves on the same day. We were able to hire a driver from our hotel for 800RMB and were able to explore on our own.

The ride from Kunming takes around 1.5 hours. It is a huge park. Make sure you bring proper shoes to walk through the park. There are caves, waterfalls, boat rides and a stunning cable car ride. The price to enter is a bit steep but definitely worth it. Also, there is a restaurant located just near the exit. The host speaks some english and the food there is brilliant.
