This museum is not available to weekend travelers only open Monday to Friday. Disappointed as the reviews had us really interested.

Lovely small museum with a focus on the local history, including the 1922 great fire, mining, and literature. What is the local link to the Hardy Boys books? How did Toronto help the city of Haileybury after the 1922 fire? You will have to visit the museum to find out. Admission fee is $3 per adult and $2 for seniors (as I recall). Worth the visit (visited July 3/18).

Had a wonderful experience touring this Museum. Our Guide was ever so helpful, explaining in great detail the events portrayed throughout the museum. This is a must see if you are in the area and enjoy history.

Next to Cobalt's...Haileyburys' history is the most interesting in the entire South Temiskaming area. The great fire, the home of the 'rich' during the mining boom, the one-time hub of the whole enchilada...This museum has it all.If you're a real Northern Ontario history buff...it all started here and, of course, in Cobalt. Give yourself a day or 2 to check out this location and the Mining Museum just 10 minutes south in Cobalt proper. You'll need at least 2 hours here and 3 more there... ... ...minimum.

Kirkland Lake, Elk Lake, Timmins...further north. That ALL happened AFTER this specific area opened up the "true north". Check it out.

This museum is a gem. So many great artifacts and photographs. My favourite part of the museum was the model of the town before the fire of 1922. It was made with such detail.

As we entered the museum we were greeted and immediately given a tour. It was so awesome to have such specialized attention. I am local and there was a lot I didn't know about the area!

Being from the surrounding area, I can't believe I had never been until now. This is a must if you are traveling through these parts and if you are a local as well! Impressing, educational and informative. Clean, inviting, welcoming and accommodating. The museum curator met my grandson and I during our visit and seeing that my little one is especially interested in vehicles, he brought us to the room with a very important vehicle (I won't say so to not reveal anything), offered to take a picture of the two of us for me and made sure my grandson's visit was a memorable one. That it was!!!! Interesting even for little ones.

I think this is the museum that I went through...about "The Great Fire of 1922" in Haileybury and area. Very informative! Interesting to see the beginnings of this town.

We were a group of relatives on a history search for some family info.
We stopped in for a look, and it turned into a 3 hour visit.
The display from the original Haileybury town at the time of the 1922 fire, was particular interest...as we determined that there were some conflicts with the history as we knew it.
We took the tour with a lovely young lady, who might have been surprised by the depth and quantity of questions which were fired at her! She did an admirable job fielding the questions, and wasn't afraid to admit if she didn't know the answer, but was happy to direct us to someone who might help. Much appreciated.
Nice to see the trolley, the artifacts from the fire...hear all the stories and then delve further into family history. Such a special thing.
The museum has a great variety of items to admire, including a functioning 1922 ruggles firetruck...lots of really interesting things...made all that much more special with all the stories to accompany them.
Thanks for a lovely visit.
