Probably not so well known as its US counterpart Glacier NP but nevertheless a very attractive park. We were there beginning of May. A lot of snow. Hardly any visitors. Silence and tranquility. Magnificent views. Part of the road was still closed duexto the snow, resulting in a nice walk to Lake Cameron.

Waterton lakes National park is located in South West Alberta, just ninety minutes drive from Lethbridge. This section of the Rocky Mountains offers stunning views of the colossal ranges, snuggled up to upper, middle and lower Waterton lakes. Close enough for day trips and resplendent with spectacular views in any season, a favorite of ours in the silent seasons of January, February. It's amazing, in such a grand setting, to be able to experience silence and solitude. We find this area cathartic. It's impossible to be here and be stressed. With winter still clinging to the peaks, March begins the season of renewal. From pussy Willows, to the bus on the trees, it's only a matter of time before spring and summer explode, bringing back the foliage and new growth. Even in summer the full load of tourists allows you to find your space and access the many shops and restaurants available in town. The trails are never crowded and there are dozens to choose from, starting with the easiest, the wishbone trail, to the most challenging, such as crypt Lake. A leisurely ride on the boat takes you south across the border into Montana, across the international border, before returning you to the marina.
Whether you sit still in the Adirondack chairs, kayak, paddle board or canoe, hike the trails, shop, dine, or simply cruise through in your vehicle, you'll never find a bad view, or a disappointing experience in this magnificent gem of a sanctuary in southern Alberta.

I've always loved Waterton and wanted to share it with my friend. Short drive across the border (don't forget your passport) to another beautiful lake. We usually see wildlife here, but (maybe since we were late in the season) only saw a couple elk this time. Still worth the trip.

Watertown Park is just across the US border in Canada. Even though Glacier/Watertown/Banff/Jasper make up an international park, each entry requires a separate fee. Watertown is a small town within the park with population around 100. Most residents are not there in the Winter, but it is a great tourist destination in the Spring and Summer months. The town of Waterton is the entry point and base of the park. From here you can hike many trails - simple to challenging, go camping, horseback riding, biking, and boating. Waterton sits on Waterton Lake with beautiful turquoise waters and is great for scenic kayaking or canoeing.

It is just Waterton to my friends and I. We camp in Waterton every year; this National Park is spectacular and is a must-see Trip Advisor attraction! The town of Waterton is also very nice to visit, although it does require a park pass to enter the gates. There is lots to see at Waterton Lake National Park!

This park is the northernmost section of Glacier National Park. It is small, but offers beautiful mountains and wildflowers. The problem is most of the trees are dead. Perhaps this is risidual from a wildfire in the past? As a result, the views just aren't as stunning because you are surrounded by sticks. I think one of the neatest things about this park is Prince Wales Hotel. This is one of the most photographed hotels in the world. Visitors are welcome in the lobby, and this is a MUST DO!! The interior is absolutely stunning! And the back windows are glass, so you walk in and see, what I think, is the best view in park. There is a fantastic gift shop in here as well. I did this park as a stop before driving to Banff the next day (3.5 hours west). I'm glad I saw it, but after having been to Yellowstone, the Tetons and Glacier, this park had very little to offer. There are plenty of hiking trails, and there is a lake where you can rent boats that seemed very popular on a hot day. I'm not saying skip it. There is beauty to be found, but not anywhere on the scale of its neighbor across the border.

Waterton park was so worth the visit. The park has such amazing scenery. We went on a Waterton River Cruise to the Goat Haunt Landing. This is a must do. The park is kept very clean and is easily accessible to all.

A less popular Park than the Equivalent Glacier Park in the U.S. but a lovely place to visit. Rugged Mountains, Wonderful Lakes and Waterfalls and lots of Wildlife. We travelled from Pincher Creek and saw Deer, Big Horn sheep at the start of the Road to Cameron Lake, plus a Black Bear on the same road and a Black Bear and Cub on Red Rock Canyon road plus Buffalo in the Bison Paddock. In the village itself Deer and Mountain sheep and Cameron Falls a must. Wonderful experience.
