We had a great experience recently visiting the CAHC . there were around 12 aircraft of varying vintage (mostly cold war era) displayed outside and a further 4 inside plus numerous other info displays. Whilst this may not sound like much, i would thoroughly recommend a visit and seeking out one or more of the volunteer staff who were absolutely fantastic, well informed and clearly enthusiastic about the aircraft and the history of the site and really bought the displays to life. our two guides had both spent the majority of their working lives around these aircraft in the RAF.
The ability to climb - gracefully - into some of the planes further added to this, i beleive that this is one of the few, if only, places in the uk that allow you to sit in the exhibits (extra points for making plane noises while doing so).
The indoor displays were nicely laid out and contained a good level of information without reaching saturation.
our visit lasted around 3 1/2 hours including a pasty lunch and a guided tour of the impressive VC-10 aerial refuelling tanker.
we visited as a couple, one of us being an engineer and into this sort of 'stuff' , and the other being a patient partner, however both of us equally enjoyed the visit and found it equally interesting and informative - again thanks to the volunteer guides we met. one thing i would say is that kids with an interest in planes and big shiny things would likely love it, but kids with a more soft play area / ball pit disposition may not be as excited.
my only reservation about the centre is that there is clearly going to be significant levels of ongoing upkeep required to the outside displays that i can foresee costing alot of time and money that may not be easily accessible to the centre - so make sure to visit and donate to help them continue the good work!

Brilliant place to visit and fairly priced, my boys were over the moon with being able to actually sit in cock pits, as was my Husband. The staff are very friendly and informative.

A fantastic experience, which it has taken us far too long to experience. Friendly, knowledgeable volunteers on hand. You could tell these guys had experience of the planes thru there service and not just repeating text off pat.
Our 13 yr old daughter loved sitting in the planes and have a go on the stimulator.

The staff were very informative and friendly. The planes were kept in very good shape and feels like most of the planes are new. I’d definitely recommend this from young kids to aviation enthusiasts.

Had an amazing time here on a (typically) cold damp day. Plenty for the kids to do, friendly and informative staff, with some amazing historic aircraft not only to look at, but to sit in as well! The only trouble we found was that time went far too quickly, which obviously isn't the museum's fault! 🤣😂🤣
Great place, would heartily recommend. 5* from us! 😃

We had a lovely visit in the Easter holidays. The staff were super friendly and it was a really interesting visit for all the family, even those who weren't that bothered about planes.
Also, the while site/attraction is wheelchair accessible, including a new walkway.
Obviously you need to be able to walk to climb the steps to look/climb into the planes.

The volunteers were brilliant, coming over to talk to us and the boys and bringing things to life. Being able to sit in the cockpits was great and the aircraft simulator was a definite hit as well. There’s a cafe as well. We combined this with a visit to the St eval karting circuit for a full day out.

Are you wheelchair friendly

Hello Kayley,
Yes we are wheelchair friendly. Most of our site is on smooth firm concrete, as you would expect at an airport. We do have 2 paths of compacted aggregate which you might like to consider and take slowly for comfort.
We look forward to seeing you.

Hi, I'm bringing my dad back to Watergate Bay next October as it's where he lived as an RAF child and met my mom. Do you have any Lancaster's, as grandad was a bomber pilot and was stationed at RAF St Mawgan.x He gained the George Cross for two tours. We have his flight log books and a telegram from Bomber Harris. I really want to make it a trip of memories for him as we're 300 miles away xx Thankyou x
