Not sure what we are paying for? Went to watch the film of Clovelly and had to endure endless pictures before the commentary started.Think it needed someone to walk in to trigger. On walking to the bottom of the cobbled street we realised we could have walked down the adjacent road to the pub without paying £9.50 each by going through the Visitor Center.

Well worth a visit, spectacular.
What rounded it off was the charming lady Land Rover driver who took us back up the hill to where we parked our car.
Don’t think we could have walked back up the challenging climb , so great to have the opportunity of returning by Land Rover

Clovelly is such a unique and beautiful place but who's idea was it to build that ugly 'visitors centre' at the top? Ruins the sense of adventure and discovery when visiting this beautiful fishing village. 😢

Amazing day out.
Started at the visitor centre, pay upon entrance, staff friendly and cafe nice. They have us a children's trail with questions for the kids to answer. Made the day fun looking for the clues. The village is stunning, not recommended for people with pushchairs, wheel chairs or walking problems though. Lovely wobbly streets, nice harbour and little beach, nice cafe to visit or a little selection of pubs. Back at the visitor centre on exit you can visit the donkey stables, pottery shop, and walled gardens. Overall, great day out.

Greedy tourist trap. The high entry fees are just the start. Really challenging to get around and dark and damp even on a sunny day. The place is littered with bossy signs that give it an unwelcoming air. I would choose any of the other charming real villages in the area and save yourself the disappointment.

Visited on a sunny Autumn day amidst the falling leaves.
Gorgeous array of architecture in the village and fabulous views on the descent down.Visited the tiny well presented fishermans cottage. Spent time sat at the harbour watching the sea. Got the landrover back up the hill. Visited the donkey stables and the soap shop. It smelled amazing and the lady working there and with the donkeys were both lovely.
The peaceful atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff including the lady on reception made it a real tonic for the soul.
Loved the working Victorian walled garden. Magical place ! I bought some organic freshly picked produce from the head gardener and his assistant who were very helpful. Tasted fantastic.
Please can you produce your own preserves and chutneys !!!!

Been here a few times as a child and adult. We visited because we had visitors for the weekend. Price to get in now £9.50 per adult. It is a very pretty village and a good pub where we had esrly dinner New Inn. But we all did feel a slight rip off. As you don't spend much time in the village. Maybe privately owned but what does the cost go on as after speaking to a local they said that they do reviews on the houses making sure all ok and if something does need doing it takes them months to correct. I am sure the amount they are charging for the rental of the houses they don't need to charge so much for people to visit and enjoy the village. Possibly get more visitors if they only charged one fee per car, not per adult or child.

We visited this village after looking for things to whilst staying in Bude.
This is private village that as an adult you are charged £9.50 to enter. It is a very steep slope to enter which is cobbled.
It is a lovely village but could be a lot better if some of the entrance fee was spent on it. Some of the properties had scaffolding up. So works are being done.
However I think it is wrong to be charged to enter & they say it’s for the upkeep.surely this is up to the private owner to up keep as they own the full village including the properties.
We walked along the pebbled beach to the waterfall & saw the stand with all the rocks.
We also visited the gardens & I found these very disappointing as they had not been planted for autumn / winter & there was nothing to look at other than some pumpkins.
The pottery place was closed.
Overall it is a lovely village but disappointing for the cost of the entrance fee.

We visited clovelly in October and although the buildings were charming and the history of being privately owned is interesting, the place was almost deserted and felt like a cross between something from prisoner and under milk wood. Perhaps our vivd imaginations got the better of us, but we were definitely releived to leave in one piece! Visit out of season if you dare!

Beautiful hillside fishing village of narrow cobblestone lanes, colorful houses with pretty flowers that will deliver that quintessential English charm! Photographers dream! Parking at the top and no vehicles allowed to clog the tiny streets. Clovelly is well worth the entrance fee! Very steep walk down so sensible shoes are a necessity!
Meander your way down the cobblestone lanes and visit the Fisherman’s cottage, small church and museum.
There are several small restaurants and a Tea Room, with a patio overlooking the harbor and they served delicious sandwiches with real ham and fresh scones!
The hotel and pub are located at the bottom on the small yet beautiful harbor. Stunning views all around.
Life here has practically stood still for hundreds of years. Amazing to imagine the hardships and the beauty of life on these steep cobblestone lanes.
Rides back up are quite the adventure in the back of a Range Rover via a hidden side road near the pub on the beach and well worth the pounds! Just hold on!

Hi Bob & Yvonne, as mentioned both in the beer garden and also in the garden of my house, I asked you not to post this sensitive information, everyone is entitled to a level of privacy, even when they are a well know face/name. I've requested that this review be taken down via Trip Advisor, but I'm also hoping whilst they look into it you could also take out the sensitive information or at least amend the review so no names are mentioned. I would greatly appreciate that as would my friend who values his privacy above all else. Thank you - Rachel.

No idea. Would expect a question direct through website, would be more productive

There used to be a Land Rover that would drive you back to the top. Is such a service still available ?
Skrevet 26. juli 2021
We were there a month ago and the land rover wasn't running then.
Skrevet 30. juli 2021
It would depend on your level of mobility
It is ok going down! But very challenging coming back up! You could check if the land rovers are running to drive you back. They used to do this. Not sure with COVID?
Great place to visit tho - pick a nice sunny day tho

We only have a half-day to visit Clovelly? Will it be long enough to see it all? How long does the walk down takes? Thanks.
Skrevet 9. januar 2020
It only takes about 1 hour to walk down, so yes you should have enough time, walking back up could take twice as long
Skrevet 10. januar 2020
Why did you pay to gain entrance to the village when it's a public right of way down the main street?
Skrevet 1. desember 2019
It used to all be maintained by the clovelly estate company, but several years ago when repairing the cobbles became excessive, they handed to Devon county council to look after it !!! It is as the previous person wrote....a public right of way...the estate company say the charge is for entering Kingsley house, and parking. If you walk along the coast path and arrive at clovelly they cannot charge you to enter the village, so don’t go in the visitors centre....I do know as I used to be the postman for higher clovelly for years

Hi, can I park overnight, as walking from there and won't be returning for 2 days.
Skrevet 23. oktober 2019
There are plenty of parking spaces and no charge for the actual parking and no-one checked us in or out of that area so i'm sure it would be fine. There was a employee directing the cars to the parking area so maybe let them know your plans once you are parked up
