Don't even bother trying to contact national trust on the phone. 3 days trying in excess of an hour wait before giving up. We have a debit issue which somebody was calling us back a week ago!! Absolutely useless

A great afternoon at Saltram from start to finish. Very dog friendly and the customer service experience was brilliant unlike our visit the day before to Buckland Abbey! The gardens and walks are gorgeous and the volunteers in the house itself very knowledgeable and approachable, nothing was too much trouble. I would thoroughly recommend a visit. In addition, the staff in the Park Cafe offered first class customer service too and the breakfast baps, cheese and ham toasties and the baked potatoes really tasty and decently priced, all of our party and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed our visit .... we'll be back .... well done to all the staff including those at the property entrance that gave out walk maps and lovely keys for the house entrance ....👍👏👏👏👏

Chapel Cafe:
Sclerotic untrained staff on the till causing long queue. Many food items run out by mid-afternoon. Filter coffee only, no latte Doughy cheese scone. Filthy cups with non-matching plates and saucers . Very reminiscent of a run-down cafe of the 1950s.

I wanted a beautiful walk, so did a loop around Saltram. If you don’t have National Park membership, you may have to pay to park. Entrance to the house would also be extra, check website for timed entry. Lovely coffee shop, shop and preloved book shop. Beautiful!

Another wonderful house to visit, but lack of rooms to see, the story is great, the day I went it was tipping it so the walks of this massive estate were out of the question. The people we friendly and knew their stuff. I had some extremely long chats with two of the guides, which was nice, I learn a great deal more than some who just wander through the rooms and do not ask questions, this is why they are there.
The lady in the Kitchen was great she knew almost every pot and pan including the working of the kitchen, well done. She told me that that Parkers had another large estate near Plympton called Borringdon. Some of the copper pots come from this house. I you look carefully you can see a B stamped on those that came from the other place.

A nice day out and an Easter egg hunt the kidsloved it. Went to the cafe for lunch the children a bit disappointed with the menu chilli or wedges please make you menu more normal.

We arrived on a wet day , even with the plastic netting over the cobbles the water tends to lie in the holes! Disappointed so few rooms open, W e visited smaller houses than this recently which had more rooms open in comparison to Saltram.
staff were helpful, adequate parking. Cafe Ok , salad a bit tired. We were puzzled why the 'temporary toilets outside reception seem permanent!

We visited the Saltram Christmastime Ball display at Saltram House which was a magical experience and the attention to detail in all the rooms was fantastic. We took our 2 young Grandchildren and they enjoyed finding the little family mouse displays in each room. However, I cannot say the same for the Father Christmas Storytime. It was not the magical experience we expected it to be for 2 children aged 5 and 7. The content of the whole event made me feel rather uncomfortable and my 2 Grandchildren looked frightened and needless to say did not want to have a photo with Father Christmas at the end.

Lovely house, would like to go back when the house is fully open - the Christmas opening of a few rooms was absolutely beautiful and wetted the appetite to see more

You can’t park in there still at the moment but if u can find somewhere else to park then you can still walk in there but not in the house gardens or the pond area.

no - but at the moment you can enjoy a drink under canopy in the court yard where dogs are allowed - lots of Christmas trees and lights to enjoy and they provide blankets and sheepskin to keep you warm - dogs are not allowed in the garden
