I had to break in, complete waste of time because it's no longer there. I was hoping to nick a few cans of Tennants tramp juice but to no avail. So I left after having sparked up a doobie. Waste of time.

Anyone need a hairdryer?

This was a slightly eccentric, earnest, and specialist shop, much loved by ale lovers and those with a yearning for bottled beer. But there were not enough and the marketing was a bit limp. Very sadly it did not survive. It is still missed.

My date of visit is obviously wrong but you can't make them older than a year.

The Moor and More web site announces that the shop closed on 19th May but that it's hoped it will be revived somehow and somewhere locally. I hope Tripadvisor will keep the listing at least for a reasonable time. Over it's five years I probably shopped here four or five times a year. I always enjoyed being in a shop with so much choice and usually came away with a couple of dozen mixed bottles, much more if we were having a party. Lots of my friends used it as well but the dull and pedestrianised end of the town meant dropping in was complicated and we didn't go back often enough. We should have guessed trading was difficult and the shop had a unique character locally selling stock we never saw anywhere else. I am sorry I didn't come in more often. If it restarts in any form I will try to do better. Meanwhile thanks and sorry.

One of those unusual but very attractive and useful shops that you are almost magnetically attracted to. For several years it has been selling a wide range of west country bottled beers. We have had our favourites but also tried a wide variety. This last week the proprietor Mr Moor has been all over the local press stating that this end of town is not doing well and he has decided to cease trading. We shall be down here next week in the hope that he will carry on for at least a while and will try to buy what we van before it's too late. We hope he may decide to open again in Plymouth or a nearby town.

If you ever walk through the drab miserable end of town look in here and take a look. Half way down Frankfurt Gate on the right is this lovely beer shop. Steady trickle of customers but given the amazingly wide stock of fantastic bottled beers I am surprised that it keeps trading. The guy who runs it is upbeat informative and very helpful. We have been back about our times since Christmas always buying a selection of bottles. An unusual but very useful and different shop. Try it.

We came here after a dispiriting walk around the very poor pannier market. Frankfurt Gate is a low key but vaguely interesting collection of small shops and cafe in the shadows of some outsized trees and hundreds of incontinent birds. Halfway down on the right is this beer shop. Run by at least one enthusiast who helped us create a tantalising selection of many different bottles of regional and idiosyncratic ales. Never seen anything like this shop anywhere. A perfect gift to take with us when we went on to a late lunch at the home of very hospitable local friends who were as delighted as we were with the boozy accompaniments. They has never heard of this shop - but they do now. Recommended.

You need to see it to believe it. Genuinely extensive and impressive collection. See also the online options. Worth a first look even if you think it's a geeky type facility for old codgers and Morris Dancing types. We thought it was a sad obsessive joke enterprise until we went to look and really liked it. Good for Plymouth to have an independent shop with an unusual speciality that actually works!
