Just managed to catch the Wick Ferry run buy the Bournemouth Boating team. Takes no more than perhaps 3 minutes but a delightful trip that saves you perhaps a 15 min walk. Nice.

We'd previously hired a self drive boat some ten years ago and thought it was time to do it again when in the area. We had lunch in The Riverside which is across the road from their Tuckton base and took the hour option which I'd heartly recommend over the half hour.
We enjoyed a trip downstream as per the helpful staff recommendations before returning upstream.
We did have a hiccup on our upstream journey which was professionally and promptly resolved which saw us swap to another boat to complete our leisurely cruise up the river to the railway bridge.
A really pleasant way to spend sometime on the river in glorious weather which I'd recommend highly.

My wife and I stayed at the Captain’s Club hotel for a night and decided to hire a boat for a river trip. The last time I did this was 73 years ago when I was 7 years old on holiday with my Mum and Dad. My mum nagged my Dad all the way as he went the wrong side of the buoys and the boat touched the bottom. It looked the same green wooden boat we had today - who knows? We had a wonderful journey up the river and my wife gave me instructions to be careful etc so it was just like stepping back in time. Tony asked us to come back before another 73 years have elapsed.

Excellent old vintage ferry with friendly crew, relaxing 40 minute trip from Tuckton to Mudeford Quay. Dog friendly.

We had an easy, hassle free boat trip to Mudeford Quay last Sunday and didn’t have to wait too long for the boat to arrive.

Really enjoyed a round trip from Christchurch on a quiet Monday.Staff were really friendly and helpful. At £10 a person from Tuckton Tea rooms, we thought this was a real bargain. We even ended up with a few extra bits as the other boat was having engine trouble, but all to our bonus.

Got the Wick Ferry over to Christchurch this morning, Checked the board which stated it was open until 4.30pm! However - on trying to return at 2.30pm there was nobody there. Phoned to be told that he’d gone home early as it was raining (it was - but not badly)!. Just apologies and no practical help at all on how to get back to the other side of the river (we worked it out and it was a 30 min walk). Really cross - spoiled a nice day out! Beware this if the weather is inclement - if we’d known it was closing early we could have worked around it!!

Recently we have had 3 River trips to/from Mudeford Quay in lovely sunny weather. The trip is quite different going the other way. Nice views too.
We have also taken a boat on the river for an hour. You can go up to Iford and down to Christchurch Quay. We'll worthe the cost and the boats take up to 6 people.
Tea rooms are Tuckton.

We hired a self drive boat from the Christchurch Quay and what a wonderful way to spend an hour.
The young man in the kiosk (sorry dont know your name) was very helpful and informative, giving good instructions about the boat and where we could go to. He offered life jackets to younger members of our party.
Our boat had a canopy which was very useful when it started to drizzle.
Thoroughly enjoyable.

We enjoyed a September boat trip from Wick ferry to Mudeford Sandbank on a glorious sunny day. Everywhere looks different when viewed from the river. The Boating services also hire out small motor boats by the half hour & hour. At Tuckton there is a cafe doing takeaway food at present.
