£9.50, no concessions. I'm a tourist to the city and it'll probably be a one off visit to Brighton. I didn't spend much time there. I was mainly wanting to see classical art (fine paintings), sculpture, furniture, but their photography exhibition took up numerous rooms, and I didn't see that many paintings. What paintings they had on display was mainly seascapes, so not a great deal of variety or European paintings. Other rooms were costumes and world cultures. Costumes are usually low cost things to buy or museums rely on donations.
The one thing that I did like was it reminded me how lucky I am to live in Glasgow, with Edinburgh under an hour away. And how much fabulous art we have on display, and entrance is still free to everyone: Scots and tourists. Tourists are not charged in my home country.
I was expecting a more interesting collection on display. I assumed that with Brighton being a major city the collection wouldn't be so small and parochial.
But of a rip off at £9.50

Actually went for the photographic exhibition which was open with the Museum; not disappointed. Could have spent much more time looking round general museum - will return.

Located near the Royal Pavilion, in a building with beautiful, special architecture. Not very big, you need about an hour to visit it. It has several sections, but not very large. The most interesting seemed to me to be the one dedicated to ancient Egypt (although small), and the one with archaeological discoveries from the Brighton area.
During my visit, they also exhibited a self-portrait of Rembrandt, borrowed from the National Gallery in London.

Went to the museum especially to see the ABBA exhibition which was very interesting and brought back many memories of back in the day!
I managed to see some of the history of Brighton as well but it was uncomfortably hot in the museum so it was a short visit this time.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
The entrance fee was £9.50 but you can visit as many times as you like over the next 12 month.

We enjoyed a very pleasant hour or so in this very peaceful museum. We enjoyed the visiting Rembrandt exhibition and the other permenant art galleries - it was a welcome lull from the hustle of Brighton and the blustery seafront and my young adult children found enough there to amuse themselves for a short while . Staff were friendly and displays inviting - If they had had a coffee shop we would have absolutely used it.

I've been to brighton so many times but only just stumbled upon this. We went to the Abba exhibition which was good although very monochrome. However there were lots of other exhibitions & rooms which we'll come back to see. Friendly staff and a beautiful building which was tranquil too.

As we had travelled to Brighton via train we were able to take advantage of National Rails 2 for 1 pre booking tickets offer. We had visited the Museum several years ago but it was a wet day and with the pre mentioned offer thought we would have another look around and keep dry.
We enjoyed the Brighton history elements of the museum. However it was my 50th Birthday so the ABBA in Brighton 1974 Eurovision Song Contest Exhibition really took the eye. I am not an ABBA fan as my late father played them to death when I was growing up but I am a Eurovision fan, so this was a perfect way to spend my birthday. The audio, video and visuals really gave a feel of both the contest and Brighton in 1974, it really felt as if I was there even though it was a month before I was born! A very enjoyable visit.

I recently visited the mueum.
Brighton museum now claims a 'resident's offer' price which is offensive as we used to get in for free to see the items owned by the city and its residents. I used to visit the museum alot and occasionally pay for the special exhibitions if they were of interest. I will no longer visit as I believe it is not the right thing to do to charge residents an entry fee. You say its because you have to, then say its because you want to be 'world class'. Residents don't need or want 'World class' we are right under your noses and already pay through council tax. The city wants and deserves a free of charge museum with access to all, whatever their income.
Especially note worthy - the charity returns show one Trust employee earning over £100,000 a year. Who takes priority, residents or employees?
Disgusting.

As a Brighton resident the museum was always free.....not now.
Flabbergasted to find that I must now spend £7 per person for entrance
Will stick to the excellent free Hove museum

What is acceptable proof of local residence necessary to avoid the entrance fee?
Skrevet 9. november 2015
according to the website it's: "driving licence, council tax/utility bill or library card."
hope that helps.
