I am writing to express our disappointment and frustration about our experience at Lucky Voice Brighton.
Our booking was for 8 people on Saturday 10th February at 8.30pm and was part of my partners 40th birthday celebrations.
On arrival and once shown to our private Karaoke room, it was clear that there was a technical issue with the screen.
Attempts were made to try and fix this initially and for about 30 minutes and then we were just left waiting.
I went downstairs to then discuss with your member of staff who was at the front desk.
It took me another half hour to get him to finally agree to a full refund and his service and attitude to the problem was quite frankly beyond poor and was very rude.
It was actually your doorman who was more helpful and wanted to at least try and resolve the issue for us.
In addition to this, the same member of staff tried to charge a friend of mine on his debit card drinks that we didn't even order which just compounded our utter frustration of the evening which by this point in time was ruined.
I see an email confirming that my refund in full has been processed and I hope this happens swiftly.
Unfortunately, we will not be returning to Lucky Voice in the future and though I fully understand that technical issues can happen, why are the rooms not checked beforehand and clearly training of your staff members in showing a bit of respect to paying customers would be of great benefit

So disappointed, the equipment didn't work and after an hour of staff trying to fix it we were told to leave or go to bar. We went to the bar and swiftly left without ordering. Went to get our credit card and they tried to charge for a round we never had. In the end the door man had to vouch for us. Customer service was terrible and quite frankly they ruined my birthday celebrations.

14 of us had booked this place through groupia for a hen party! We had an amazing night in our private room.
All staff were really friendly on door/reception/bar
They do ask everyone for ID on the door so please remember this.
I would love to go back here again next time I’m in Brighton

Like many others, we arrived not realising we required ID. We are all comfortably in our 40s, so the legal aspect of our admission honestly shouldn't be in question here.
We were told it was a legal requirement (as a licensee of 23 years, this seemed highly unlikely), and this then changed to "it's our policy", and even then switched to "it's so we know where you live" and "in case there's a fire". All complete nonsense excuses, from both the door staff, and the counter staff.
If it is in fact a legal requirement, then why did your door staff initially allow one of us to enter without ID, only changing his mind when another or us also didn't have it? Also why are numerous other reviews sometimes being waived through without ID?
It seems far more likely it's a heavy handed and superfluous policy, than a law. In either case, your online booking portal needs to clearly state that ID is required. It's currently not mentioned anywhere on your website. And no, staying that guests must be over 18, isn't the same as insisting on ID, if the guests in question are quite clearly over 40. I believe I can reasonably expect to not be confused with a 17 year old at this stage of life. Even if challenge 25 is in place, flattering though that comparison may be, it's clearly laughable.
More to the point your messaging on site is woefully inadequate. If you have a rule, even a stupid one, stand by it, enforce it universally and certainly don't change it as you go to suit the ego and incompetence of your door staff.
I took particularly offence at the quite unpleasant older lady on the door suggesting to my friend that she'd "had trouble with him before" referring to me. I've never once attended your venue, never once encountered that woman in my life, and have never in 11 years been ejected from a venue in the city, or otherwise had an altercation with door staff. So this offensive comment was especially insulting.
At no point during the interaction were we aggressive, loud or cursing. We were indignant and irritated but remained calm.
Your door staff need a thorough retraining on how to interact with the public; perhaps a reminder that ultimately security does have an aspect of customer service to it.
You also need to train to your staff and the security team what is a law, and what is a policy. Being given inaccurate information in the hope we wouldn't know any better is frustrating enough, but changing your story and just making things up to get off the hook makes you look incompetent. Sadly I suspect that may be the case here.
I am genuinely shocked this is how you choose to run your venue, if these individuals were operating as instructed. And I'm equally shocked you employ their services if they were not.

Went here as part of a hen weekend and it was absolutely the best time! 17 of us in one room and there was plenty of room for us all! Staff were great and really helpful, we had no problems with the bouncers on the door, that other people mentioned in their reviews! We found every song we wanted to sing and there was so much choice!! We had an absolute blast! Would highly recommend Lucky Voice and I’ll definitely go back if I’m in Brighton!

I want to make it clear that it was the security guards at the door and not the guys at the bar and reception.
as soon as we arrived they asked for ID and a colleague only had the ID online and they didn't accept it. My birthday, a group +35 all and security saying they wouldn't accept the digital ID because we could fake it. It was humiliating and disrespectful, I understand the law is there to stop underage people from drinking alcohol but clearly older people with gray hair makes no sense, this never happened to me in Brighton. but I don't intend to ever go back to that place, and if anyone asks me I'll tell them not to go. and if you reading this are over 50 take your ID or security will refuse you entry and she is very very rude

It would be interesting to make it clear that even if you are elderly, you will not be able to enter without presenting your physical ID. An aggressive approach requiring this type of documentation prevents people from entering, which can turn a night of celebration into something really frustrating.

Went here last week with my team and had an amazing time. We had a private room for Karaoke and felt like stars throughout the time we were there. The manager was also very warm and friendly. A wonderful place to spend your time if you’re out with a couple of friends.

Went for a hen weekend and this was supposed to be the highlight. Drinks were limited, sex on the beach cocktail or Prosecco for 2 hours. You want anything else, you pay. Bagels were very stale and dry and tiny bit of filling and not many were eaten. Played some fun games and had a laugh for the 2 hour slot. We were told we could go upstairs for the karaoke for the final hour and drinks were then chargeable. This was at 1.50pm so 10 minutes before our all inclusive that we had paid for and when we asked for more drinks, we’re told no, that’s it, no more drinks despite seeing plenty of open Prosecco bottles in the fridge! Karaoke side was great and we had a real good time. Think for £40 a head, they need to improve the standard of food and they should provide drinks for the 2hours you pay but overall, was not a bad afternoon

Terrible sound quality, some microphones didn’t work well, weren’t loud enough. Broken lighting in room, seriously overpriced drinks. Limited song list.
