We went to a concert here yesterday. The old paintings on the vault are very beautiful. Also there are modern wood carvings of the Stations of the Cross around the church which are also very beautiful

This is not a cathedral, so I can't exaggerate the size, but there is a wonderful sense of grandeur and beauty here. It has several exquisite carved statues and a breathtaking piece of carved and painted woodwork protecting the high altar. It appears to be Catholic but in fact it is Anglican, in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. Sadly enough, not open very often. It's a short walk down from the Clocktower, and quite easy to miss. Sunday services are renowned for their excellent music.

I loved the stain glass windows & the whole feel of the church. Just off the busy seafront a quite haven of peace & tranquillity. Not open all of the time but well worth a visit when it is. I would recommend this building.

Built in the mid 1800’s, this Anglo Catholic Church will not bowl you over on looks. We live visiting churches wherever we go and while this is far from ugly, we have been to and seen so many stunning places of Christian worship that this one is merely standard. If I’m honest it would look a lot better with a clean up but then that’s true of so many churches these day that just don’t have the funds.

Had to look for this place to find it. It's through a covered walkway from the main road. Lovely building when we got there. I'm a sucker for lovely stained glass windows and this has them in droves.

Entry through a long covered alley from the busy Brighton's main road, the church members who are available inside will warmly welcoming you. A solemn place to stop for a while before or after visiting the famous, busy and crowded nearby Brighton Beach Front. Spent sometime here with church member, they will happily share the history of the church, and donation is welcome. Either you are devout Christian or just visitors, worth 10 - 15 minutes stop here admire the church built nearly 200 years ago.

This church was built in 18 something. It was at that time a very poor area and apparently a devout young rich man commissioned it...who i think later became the priest there. He wanted to reach out to the poor. The priests in that time when it was first built were apparently quite controversial and brought into the church the rituals and solemnities of the mass. Currently the outside seems under construction on the one side. It is not always open but there is a daily mass and in summer they say they try to keep it open until 3p.m. We stayed in the apartment right opposite it and it was not open daily.
It has impressive stained windows (one can buy bookmarks depicting the various window panes for 35 pence). The church is nice inside..largish but the alter separates it from seeing the stained windows up close. There are statues of Mother Mary and baby Jesus, Jesus and St Paul..where one can light a candle and say a prayer asking God for help.
Also on sale are crosses and other religious items. There is a map where they are asking visitors to put a pin where they came from. There is no charge to go in (certainly I believe anyway ther should not be no charge to enter a church) but if you want you can put a donation in the donations box.
It was good to see and even better to sit in the pew for ten minutes, being quiet and saying a prayer.
