Lovely historic house in rural Herefordshire, fascinating tour by good guides. Lovely house and gardens and community spirit. Loads of history in lived in house. Lovely tea rooms and walk around the ground and the chickens recommend the cake ❤️

This place is just delightful: a beautiful Jacobean house surrounded by traditional gardens you can loose yourself in for a couple of hours. There’s a great little tea shop too. Also, check out the church at the end of the drive near where you enter. It’s rather special.

What a lovely way to spend a Wednesday! I’m a bit suspicious of guided tours as often the groups are too large, the guide seems to be quoting an oft used script, and you get rushed around. Definitely NOT the case here. The lady who took us around was great and so knowledgeable about her 'subject', her enthusiasm was infectious. The group of a dozen was just the right size for us all to feel included and after each room description, we were given the chance to look about. As proof of our enjoyment, the group gave our guide a standing ovation at the end of the tour! Oh, and the grounds are well worth a visit (free of charge!) and fun for children and adults.

This place is an absolutely delight and FREE. You can wander at your will through the gardens which are beautiful though not perfect. The tea room is wonderful- warm home made scones with homemade jam.
Highly recommended.

Note: the toilets are not marked on the map and are in the house and by the car park.

Lovely house and gardens with beautiful wicker constructions and a pretty meadow and lake at the back. We booked onto the tour and it was very interesting as the house is steeped in history. We felt safe as the staff were very Covid-aware and everyone kept their distance. Had a very light lunch/snack outside in the gardens as they have a tea room with home made scones and I also bought some home made jam for my elderly neighbour and she loved it.

Lovely gardens. So peaceful and something for everyone. Free entry into gardens -around £10.00 to do tour of house but you need to book on line which we will do next time we visit. Open Wednesday and Sunday only. Well worth a visit. Loved it. We actually popped back later in the afternoon to visit tea room. Lovely and great price

Gorgeous garden, amazingly free but with donations. Formal and wild gardens plus veg, knot and herb garden set in the most beautiful countryside overlooking the Malverns. Lovely tea room and courtyard too with the best brownies ever! Very friendly welcome. Will definitely return and do the house tour too.

We enjoyed our visit tom the garden festival. this year and loved the wildflower meadow.
However we think you need to rethink your accessibility information.
Yes, most of the gardens are on the level BUT very unsuitable for prams and wheelchairs due to pathways made of loose gravel and stones. We suggest that YOU try to push a loaded wheelchair around the gardens ...you will see the problem!!

We were exhausted!! Afraid we will opt for something easier next time!

What a beautiful place!

Our only issue is that it’s VERY poorly (non-existently) sign posted when you’re in there. We weren’t really sure where we were allowed to walk! We found, at one point, a lovely paddock with a stream through some gate posts and we had no idea if it was part of the place or if we were trespassing into some other garden!

The gardens are pretty, well maintained and very peaceful. We saw two ladies lying in the sun reading - it looked heavenly. We went round with our dogs, it’s dog friendly though hardly any bins and no info on dogs on or off leads, etc.

The cafe is nice, a few little tables nicely spaced out outside (very little shade so take care with dogs on hot days - they did have a big water bowl for pups though!) Menu was on the counter inside, as opposed to being visible outside - keeping up with the theme of sort of guessing our way round the visit! We had cream tea for two for £8 and it was lovely. Hot, fresh scones were fab!

There’s some really interesting sculptures dotted round and some interestingly planted gardens - but, yep - you guessed it, no information about any of it!

If you want a lovely, pretty walk in the sun and a cracking scone this place is worth a visit. As long as you’re happy walking round not knowing anything about it...!
