Lots of green bits, good views, two ponds, a gift shop, a mini cafe and secondhand bookshop. Birds,dragonflies,orchids etc Lovely

Took my 2 year old on the fairy trail, she loved looking out for their houses. Was very muddy so take wellies. Not massive but feels secluded and out of the way. Ended up buying a membership and will be returning again with kids, and to check out the Stargazing Night.

We visited the nature reserve with 4 grandchildren ages 10, 6, 6, and 3. It is centred round an old chalk quarrywith well signposted out walks round the top of the quarry and in the base of the quarry. The children enjoyed the walks, bird watching from the hide, looking for grass snakes in the pond, the picnic area and the toys provided in this area. All they wanted to know was when can we come back. It is also amazing value, £25 for a years family membership.

Greeted by friendly staff who told us about the areas in the museum. Was nice to be able to touch and handle the items on display. The outdoor area itself was big with lots to walk around and look at. We noticed lots of fairy houses and areas which would be a lovely touch for children to explore. It would have been nice to have information about the various areas/walks around the reserve to learn more about the wildlife. Really liked the two walks, one around the lower and one around the upper area, allowing us to see the reserve from a different perspective.

Beautiful place, well kept. Friendly receptionist. It's £5 to enter the reserve but you can look around the reception and museum bit for free.

This is a lovely place to stroll round and listen to the birds. Despite the main road running alongside you can feel your troubles disappear as you wander round this old chalk pit in the fresh air. The views from the top are wonderful and there are plenty of benches scattered round so you can just have a rest. Nice spots to sit and have a picnic too, When you get back to the start, there is a nice little cafe with excellent cake! There's a trail for children to follow and have a go at brass rubbing. We love it here, and come back at different seasons as there is always something to see. On certain days, someone comes with birds of prey and they are wonderful to see. If you are a reader, this is the place to come and find a cheap book on practically any subject you can think of. If you join, you get free membership of the Monkton stargazers.

Having lived locally most my life, I must confess that I have never bothered to visit this attraction, even when my children were younger. Today I went with a group of children as a school trip. A few of the adults like myself had never been and we all said how impressed we were with what they have done with this old quarry. We were fortunate that the weather was good, enabling us to eat our picnic lunches at one of the many picnic benches. We enjoyed the museum with lots of interesting fossils and many other artefacts and view the wild birds feeding from the many feeders. We were treated to a very interesting bird of prey talk where the children could view up close various birds including a very clever raven. I was also very nicely surprised at the many different trails you could walk through wooded areas as well as a visit to a large pond to watch the wild life. We were treated by a visit from a cheeky little Robin who came so close within an arms length to see if we had anything tasty to offer. Fortunately I was able to offer the little fella a few cookie crumbs so the children were able to watch him feed with his mate. I would highly recommend this place especially if you have young children and the sun is shining.

Great place to take the chilren,they have variety of children’s activities. Also great place to take photographs of birds,butterflies,plants and scenery.They have a cafe for a drink and something to eat. If you are into stargaze they stargazers astronomy group.
On a lovely warm day it’s so nice to walk round.There is a second hand bookshop which has many books . There are things to do in school holidays for children to.

Tranquil reserve with obliging staff and lots to see and do.
Several species of birds, lovely museum and nice tea and coffee bar.
Places like this need support from everyone to keep nature there for the kids.
£10 for us both to visit (£5 each) or £20 couples membership, no brainier to join especially if you are local.

Ashamed to say, 35 yrs living in Thanet and driving by this place and we’d never been before! We were totally missing out!
We spent just shy of 3 hours here and chose to visit the day they had birds of prey there.
We were able to pay £1 for a photo and a hold of one of the birds, with all proceeds going to the reserve.
There are plenty of picnic areas. Also plenty of benches to stop at along the walks. There is a fairy trail and a dinosaur trail to keep the little ones busy. There are also brass rubbings but no materials provided for them.
My only negative was the museum quiz. We attempted it and even us grown ups couldn’t find the answers so we gave up. Bit disheartening for the kids. This could be made easier.
