This is one of my favourite bodies of water in the Lake District. Quieter than the tourist hotspots of Windermere and Coniston, Ulswater offers the breath of fresh air true nature lovers crave. There's plenty to do, plenty of lovely villages surrounding it, and many a campsite to base yourselves at.
We discovered a couple of nice walks surrounding it too during our weekend here.
My only disappointments were not being able to swim because it was so shallow and pebbly (our fault for not bringing water shoes though) and this man on a jet ski who was arrested by the police for making a nuisance of himself. However, we quite enjoyed seeing our first ever arrest.

We stayed in glenridding in Tonkin cottage, beautiful location as ulleswater is right there, the lake is clean and offers lots of surrounding walks of different abilities including halvelyn where there is a start from the village. There are steamer trips along the lake to Pooley bridge or other stops along the way. The scenery is stunning and is fairly quiet, worth a visit

The Lake District is Englands northern secret heaven in my view.it has absolutely stunning beauty in mountains and lakes fields and little cottages castles interesting village’s beautiful walks. If you have never been there, I highly recommend you visit.
Wether you camp like staying caravan's cottages or hotels there is bound to be something you like and a place to hold your interest.there is something for everyone, from stately homes to explore castles ruined and intact, alpaca's birds of prey, swimming in Keswick pool walking over hills and moors, horse riding wild swimming (although check for currents some lakes pump water under the surface)
All the little villages have places to eat pubs tea rooms restaurants.
Keswick has a pencil museum a motor museum and beautiful parks to explore, Windermere has boats on the lake you can hire or be a passenger to the other side of the lake, also a sealife centre.

The best place to spend my birthday, Ullswater is my favourite lake and a lovely place and still unspoilt by too many people

The scenary around Ullswater and the lake itself are truly stunning, I don't think words will do it much justice so just look at the photos instead.

There’s so much to do in and around Ullswater. Sailing, walking and photography are just a few of the possibilities.
There are the famous launches based at Pooley Bridge. It’s possible to do a circular tour on the launch from which there are spectacular views of the fells. Combine a sail with a walk, for example take the launch to Howtown and walk around the lake side path to Glenridding or sail to the Aira Force jetty and climb up to see the magnificent waterfall.
Staying in the car doesn’t rule out the breathtaking beauty of the area. There are various car parks alongside the lake including one at Aira Force where there is also a very good National Trust cafe and toilets.
it’s impossible not to be impressed with Ullswater. In winter-snow covered fells, in spring- new growth and the sound of lambs, summer- long and hopefully sunny days and the splendid colours of autumn.
There’s plenty of places to stay and a number of restaurants and cafes.
If you don’t go you are seriously missing out!

Has a quick look around here as we were nearby. Some areas were accessible but we were not wanting to go out onto the water. There was some great drives into the mountains nearby which was great.

Loved our day out and about Ullswater Lake. We chose to get on the water via the little steamers from Pooley Bridge to Glen Ridding. It was wonderful.

I would say simply beautiful and stunning, there are a lots of gorgeous walks around ullswater from easy once to the more demanding once😀 either way you wont be dismayed with breathtaking sceneries around 360 degrees but be sure to pack a lot of water😀 the good thing around ullswater is not that crowded and for sure you will have a lot of picturesque spots all throughout your trek. Its a fun filled experience when you are nature tripping 👍

Visited here and walked from Glenridding to Aira Force waterfall and before before turning and returning. Parking can be expensive, especially at Aira Force so we found one of the many lay-bys where parking is free if you are happy to walk.
The waterfall is great to see, although sadly one of the better viewpoints was out of action due to a tree fall, we then continued up hill alongside the lake and had some great views below returning to our start point.
