This is a great area which has lots of development happening featuring bars and activities for all ages. It is only a short train ride from Heathrow Airport.

Nice place to go for a little stroll, rent a boat to cruise along the canals, have a picnic lunch, walk your pup, drink/dine at one of the restos... Plenty to do, especially on a warm, sunny day.

We love it here when the weather is good, boats to hire, street food, quirky bars, impressive bridges and new structures …it has it all. The old warehouses and hospital still sit alongside all the shiny new developments, adding to the interest . A nice area to spend an hour or two , then walk through Paddington station to spot the man in the clock on Eastbourne terrace ,

We visited Brew Dog bar at Paddington Basin . The beer and cider were fine however we ordered the vegetarian sharer board and Mac and cheese - ugh! What a disgusting plate of food, delivered by staff who were lethargic . The manager did refund us but we didn’t order further food . The bathrooms were smelly and messy , at 3 in the afternoon..... not retuning !

This area underwent a huge regeneration in the last years and what a huge difference is now!!! Forget Sheldon square located nearby, now surrounded by several tall buildings housing companies and blocks of flats with a gym, supermarket and little shops plus restaurants (having a large theatre in the middle where you can watch different sports on the big screen in summer time when the weather is nice), the Paddington basin, surrounding the canal, also underwent a huge change, making is so much safer and easier to walk compared to only 10 -15 years ago.
Paddington area outside the station has been enlarged and on both sides of the canal there are now some very tall buildings you can reach via the very small cute pedestrianised bridge, thus replacing the old buildings and bridge.
You can still walk north and south, near the canal, all the way to St Mary's hospital, no wonder that lots of tourists and office workers alike do not want to leave the area, even in cold but sunny days as there are so many restaurants that really made the effort to look nice inside and on their terraces. Add to that several restaurants rights on the boats on the canal, if you want to stay more here, rather than go to the over priced little cafes on Praed street after St Mary's hospital.
I tend to walk all the time through here preferring this method over taking the underground for one station in order to reach Paddington, where from I can take either the train or the tube or even Heathrow express all the way to the airport for a very small fee if I purchased my ticket online months in advance and printed the bar codes at home.
We are so fortunate in this respect as in other parts of the world they make it so difficult with these things we take them for granted.

Nice to take a stroll few shops more restaurants and cafes. Near Paddington station and st Mary’s hospital the walk takes you over to little Venice and really pretty when u get there. Lots going on in the area especially when the weather is nice.

Discovered Paddington basin by chance today. What a great place to walk,sit and watch life. Just minutes walk from Paddington station this area of waterways conne ting to the canal is surrounded by bars and cafes. Really peaceful.
