Built by the Norman king in the 11th century as a last bastion in case of invasion, it is the oldest part of the whole complex. It occupies the central part of what over the centuries, with the addition of other buildings, has become an entire citadel. Safe fortress but also infamous prison, armory, mint, archive.... today houses a rich collection of armor some really impressed, such as the armor that belonged to Henry VIII. Inside you can also see the oldest chapel in London, St John’s Chapel.

PROS
* Amazing historical building constructed in the year 1068
* The architectural centerpiece and main symbol of the entire Tower of London
* Incredible and stunning museum displays of historical British royalty stuff and tools and implements of medieval warfare
CONS
So much stuff is displayed in there that it can get crowded
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because it is the central building of the Tower of London complex.
I was thrilled with being inside such an outstanding and incredibly intact structure that was built almost one thousand years ago.
The exhibits were wonderful and stunning and mesmerizing. I loved all of it on all of the floors.
I loved going down the winding four flights of stairs, and I have many videos of it
Of course I had booked this Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Sky Garden and a play at the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre all in one day, so I was moving fast and didn't have time to savor and enjoy the absolute treasures that are displayed here.
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
Going to the Tower of London once for almost 30GBP was worth it- once
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
For that cost? Maybe yes/maybe no/maybe so
ADVICE
* Be sure to budget a good amount of time to peruse all that is displayed here
* Be sure to go to the top and then all the way down on one of the spiral staircases
FULL DISCLOSURE
"I visited this place" with the plan to write a "helpful" review and to attach these numerous "helpful" photos here on tripadvisor, so if these did "help" you, please indicate that by tikking the "thumbs up" 👍 symbol. Thanks.

Stopped in Sep 11th 2023 for a visit with family and friends on a tour.
There was plenty to see, interactive stations as was as non-interactive stations.
The grounds were well kept and soldiers on duty were kind to stand for pictures.
Well worth the price of admission for us.

It's like going back in time and seeing all the knight gear and weapons that they used to have.
Worth a visit to see these weapons and equipment.

This is the inner keep in the Tower of London complex. We had a great time wandering the many floors of this Medieval structure where so much history has taken place. The arms and armor exhibits were amazing, but for me climbing spiral staircases from the Middle Ages was itself a worthy experience. Just to be in an old building like this is special.

A tower from Norman time still standing. Visitors to this tower treated as pedants from that time from security who think of themselves as lords from that time.

The White Tower is the oldest part of the Tower of London and the Norman palace started by William the Conqueror. It looks just like the inner tower of Dover Castle which is another great Norman castle.
Inside you will see an armory exhibit as well as some exhibits for children. You will also see a great stone Norman chapel that is one of the best parts of the tower. If you come to the Tower of London, you need to be sure to see the White Tower.

Claramente no es uno de los sitios que mas me ha gustado visitar. Exteriormente me parece feo pero es debido a la función que tenía siendo primero fortaleza, posteriormente cárcel y baluarte militar. Su gran aliciente son la colección de las joyas de la corona

This massive keep is the oldest and visually most impressive part of the Tower of London complex.
I have visited this place many times over the years and the exhibitions on display have always been interesting.
Many people visit the Tower of London primarily to see the Crown Jewels but the White Tower is just as fascinating.
The displays of Royal Armouries here are worth the visit alone but there is so much more on the various levels.
This keep is nearly 1000 years old and there are no lifts here but plenty of stairs, so bear this in mind.
