Lovely venue for a concert. Very close to Kings Cross/ St Pancras. Modern airy venue with a bar and cloakroom. Sound was amazing. Chairs comfortable.

This was part of the London Piano Festival. As usual the acoustics were great and the seating roomy and comfortable. The performance composition was weird although technically excellent. The pieces had little context or rhythm. The artist was not forthcoming with explanations and did not seem to have prepared the program. He was uncertain whether there would be an interval and in the event there was not. At the end of the performance he was keen to promote his CDs on sale in the foyer. He promised to be there to sign copies but did not turn up - at least not whilst I was in the queue.

Visited the venue to attend a live event as part of the London Podcast Festival. Beautiful building very close to a Kings Cross and the staff were helpful.

Went there for the violin makers' day, everyone was very friendly :) really accessible, the staff didn't bat an eye at an assistance dog and the disabled toilets aren't locked like in some places. Free to noodle around happily, knowing that help is there if it is needed. Had a great time!

Recently visited Kings Place for a gig for the first time.
As a wheelchair user visiting anywhere for the first time can be daunting but I was assured over the telephone that the venue was completely accessible, and it was.
Not only that, the lovely and very efficient, Esther (venue manager) came and found me at the Rotunda restaurant to ensure that I was able to select the best seat for me. I felt valued as a customer which was the icing on my birthday celebrations.
The venue itself houses exhibition space and the delicious Rotunda restaurant with views over the canal. Will be back.

This started at 8.30pm (or a little later) but only at the last minute were we told that there was a support act - Aga Ujma. This earlier start was disappointing as we had arranged dinner beforehand. Hall 1 has excellent acoustics especially up in the balcony which gives a panoramic view. The main act was professional and well presented with amazing harp accompaniment. It lacked depth however and, as there were no English words in the songs, there was no understanding. Aga Ujma is a Polish singer of Far Eastern songs and her performance was superb and haunting in many ways eclipsing the main act.

Excellent concert shame about the Rotonda.
The Brodsky quartet were excellent. Having had three glasses of wine beforehand ( over £40) we booked a table for 6 for dinner. A mistake. A hamburger rare and a hamburger well done arrived exactly the same colour ,dark gray and so tepid the cheese had not melted, charged at £19.50 each. 3 people choose beef strips over salad, this arrived, the large portion at £22 each on an eight inch plate with lettuce undressed, topped with a few strips of cold cooked beef and some Parmesan shavings. Thinking the waiter had thought they ordered starter portions they called him back to be told that these were main course sized. Well after that we quite got the cold shoulder. The sixth main course was grilled cauliflower. With one pudding and one cheese plate three bottles of wine this feast cost £303.

Typical quipped the viola player that we had all been waiting for this concert originally scheduled for March then three came along at once. Such was the popularity of the Brodsky’s late Beethoven system that not one concert with numbered limited to preserve social distancing took place today at 2pm but repeat performances at 4pm (the one I went to) and again at 6pm as well as live streaming. All credit to both quartet and King’s Place for such resourcefulness in these dark days. And what a tragedy that the shutters are likely to come down on live performances soon for at least a month. Fortunately these performances of Beethoven’s (last) Op.135 quartet with the Op. 133 Grosse Fuge preceded by a Fugue from Mendelssohn’s Op.81 were not only worth waiting for but to savour and remember in the weeks and months ahead. It was also good to visit King’s Place again although apart from the Rotunda bar and restaurant where a televised Scotland v Wales rugby match was in full swing it was eerily quiet particularly in the foyers where the Pangolin gallery had hung prints mainly by British sculptors. Their ground floor gallery had a few visitors though.

Kings Place is one of those places that is not obvious, yet is only or 10 minutes walk from King's Cross Station. Perhaps when all the redevelopment has been completed, it will be more joined in to the rest of the area. Today it is slightly apart, but worth investigating for its programme of concerts and other events, its restaurant overlooking the barges in Regent's Canal and Battlebridge Basin and its excellent programme of visual arts organised by its partner gallery, Pangolin London.
When opened in 2008, King's Place was the first major multi-use new arts venue since the Barbican was built in the 1980's. I visit mainly for the arts programme, which includes the Kings Place sculpture trail, changing changing exhibitions in the lower level public spaces - the most recent being 'Nature Unwrapped' with artists such as David Mach, Charlotte Mayer, George Taylor and Bryan Kneale illustrating their different views of the beauty of the natural world, linked to a programme of concerts and other events following the same theme, - and the Pangolin Gallery itself which, on a wet grey February day, was showing the versatility and variety of work by the British sculptor Jeff Lowe.
All in all, an enjoyable visit, including a snack lunch in the cafe area, reminding us of one of the many stars of the London cultural scene which are temporarily closed due to coronavirus.

Had a wonderful evening listening to Rob Rinder narrate the rise of the American Musical Theatre and film industry and the moguls who came from nothing and rose to fame.
Fascinating stories and wonderful music from a great jazz trio.
The Rotunda is a great place to eat too and Kings Place is the most brilliant venue.
Aren’t we lucky living in London?!
