A word of warning.. beware of the complete lack of customer care /service when booking tickets . Six weeks and still can not get complaint rectified.

Absolutely Superb!

I purchased an experience day for 2 at The Oval for my Dad, a keen cricket fan. He chose to take me, a neutral, with him. The experience day was for a tour, afternoon tea and to watch a match at the ground. My dad was concerned I wouldn’t enjoy the day, but nevertheless, we both looked forward to our day. The ground is perfectly located to the tube station we needed. There were ample opportunities as well for a quick photo or two. We found where we needed to be to register our arrival with ease. We were then able to watch some cricket prior to going on our tour. The tour itself was very informative, very interesting, and very enjoyable, with plenty of opportunities to take photographs. Once the tour had finished, we had about 2.5 hours until we were needed to be at afternoon tea…a perfect opportunity to watch the match, which was Day 1 of the County Championship game between Surrey and Warwickshire. We were able to sit wherever we wanted (apart from the members area), and had a stunning view of the crease and saw everything that was going on. The afternoon tea experience, again was fabulous. A good choice of food to pick at was presented to us as well. My Dad absolutely loved his experience day at The Kia Oval, and so did I!

Ashes Cricket at its Best

Lucky to score day one tickets for the Fifth Ashes Test and our seats were fantastic. Seven rows back from the fence and seated opposite the members, we had superb views of the day’s play. It ebbed and flowed and was thoroughly entertaining. Enjoyed seeing the history of The Oval as we walked to our seats. The food and beverage was reasonable in quality and price. A great experience for cricket fans.

Needs a better PA system

This visit was for The Eliminator cricket matches for The Hundred competition. Firstly a perennial gripe is the appalling public address which is extremely hard to hear over the crowd, and when you can hear it, it is usually delivered by hyperactive teenagers, who speak so quickly they are incoherent at best. Yet again I challenge the people who matter within the employ at The Kia Oval to actually take time out from the corporate boxes to sit in the crowd on match days and try and understand what is being said. Secondly the stewards do not appear to be stewarding well. A few do try prevent people coming in and going out during active play so as not to block the view of others, but mostly this piece of cricketing etiquette is largely ignored, also the smoking ban within the stands is completely ignored by so many it is unfair on the rest of us. I saw at least five people around us either smoking or vaping yet plenty of stewards around, more intent on chatting amongst themselves to be bothered. When wickets fell, the screen would give details of the wicket and how they fell, on two separate occasions it read the wicket was caught and bowled, which was simply wrong and when Manchester Originals opened their innings, the two batsmen had their names come up on the big screen and only one was correct. As for the ‘resident DJs’ do they not know how stupid they look prancing round like demented X Factor failures. As always the cost of food is bordering on greed and profiteering (a small Mr Whippy ice cream £4.50, come on!). Saying all of that the cricket itself eclipsed all of these gripes to make that part of the day worth it.

Misleading prices

Went to the Oval for a one day cup match. The cricket was excellent but the catering terrible with very few outlets open. The coffee outlet advertised tea at £2.80 and coffee at £3.30 - steep enough for a small half filled cup! But when I came to pay they charged £6.80 not the £6.10 which I expected. When I asked why the difference, they replied the screen was wrong and when I politely pointed out that they should be charging the advertised price, I was basically ignored. I have tried to take the matter up with the Kia Oval but they have just ignored my emails. So be warned do not rely on the advertised price , they seem to think that doesn’t apply to them.

Brilliant day of cricket

What's not to like? Fabulous venue, easily accessible by train [when not on strike!], excellent cricket (this time the World Test Final), super weather and family with whom to enjoy the day

Great service at the Oval

I was worried about the queues that there might be arriving at the Oval but there were plenty of staff and NO queue for ticket or bag check. The catering facilities were excellent and varied. The only down side was the toilets which were smelly and very crowded. In contrast, my friend said it was great to not to have to queue for once for the ladie's!

brilliant venue, easy access, generally helpful staff, shame about the abruptness of drinks servers, for the ridiculous price of the food and drinks they could at least be pleasant

Great cricket, ground needs a major upgrade

We were fortunate to attend the Ashes Test in July. The cricket was marvellous.
The ground itself is dated, the seating is poor, and every time someone gets up, everybody has to stand up and let them pass.
The facilities for food and drink are hopelessly overcrowded, the wait time is long and is quite frankly dangerous. Not to mention expensive. Toilet facilities are crowded and inadequate.
There is talk about a new stand, of more importance is a major upgrade of the whole facility.

An accident waiting to happen

We had test match tickets for Sunday 30 July. The facilities at the Oval are woefully inadequate for an international test match ground. The crush around the bars and street food is terrifying, even for those used to rugby matches and cricket matches in many other venues. There are loads of ladies loos, but so many were out of action, filled with cleaning equipment or cleaners having a natter. The match day picnic, at £50 a head, was a joke - stale sandwiches, dodgy tasting coleslaw, pork pies going green. And once it started to rain, and everyone headed inside at the same time, there was no crowd management, no stewarding, inadequate lighting and no help for someone who fell in the centre of the crowd. We love cricket but it’s going to take a lot to get us to the Oval again, which is very very sad.
