It was a well-equipped museum with a high level of interactivity. There were plenty of areas that would capture the interest of even those not particularly interested in military matters. It was equally informative in terms of learning about the role the British Army has played throughout history. We believe it is well worth setting aside at least two hours for a visit.

Not very big, but interesting. You can see weapons from different periods, medals, uniforms and other military accessories. However, not as spectacular as I would have expected. There are not many fighting machines/tanks/planes or other massive exhibits.
You need 60-90 minutes to visit it.
Entrance is free.
The museum also has a cafe where you can also have lunch.

Great day out as a family. Imformative and lots to see and do. The cafe was expensive but varied choices available. Interactive for children to keep them interested. Would reccommend!

I came here with someone who is nearly 12, they loved it, and so did I, a shame the Soldier exhibition wasn't open.
We paid £6 for a Souvenir Guide book, and got to go into go into the Hidden Objects Exhibition, the young person I came with tried on some uniform and helmets. The 3 staff members in there (pictured), were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, as were the other staff in there.
This is definitely worth a visit for young and old. We were there for about 3.5 hours, but could've spent longer there.

I didn't know about this museum until I walked past it. Please note that entry is free, which is perfect for learning while enjoying the visit during your stay! the museum is far from small. I loved ! It’s also suitable for children!

Only wanted to see the army in Germany bit and it was very good. I considered all the other bits a bit old hat and could be construed as jingoistic. But, hey, who's armed forces museums aren't much the same in that regard. Very well presented exhibition, lots of detail about the start of things which must have been tricky for all concerned. Like no fraternising at all. Yeah, everyone ignored that! I particularly liked the later bits with the impact of the Berlin Wall. I could relate to this having seen East Berlin in 1987. And the details about the train journey into Berlin from the West. Boy, were the Commies ever paranoid? Also, things were explained why they didn't just go home straight away after the wall fell.

Very well laid out museum but with rather abrupt staff. Patrons should not be spoken down to as if they shouldn’t be there.

Well organized and some interesting displays from the British Army over the years in numerous locations worldwide.
A blast from the past getting to see the BRIXMIS cars again, although now retired!
Good cafe with a wide range of snacks and treats on the menu.

I've been here before but not since Jan 2013. It was a pleasure to be here again as the Museum has done a massive renovation and re-installation. My family and I were delighted with our visit here.

Lovely modern interactive museum with 3 floors and a great cafe. Free to visit. Lots to see. Great if you like a bit of army history. Although there are other army museums with more exhibits, what was here was well laid out and easy to see what each item was with clear labels.
The cloakroom was a very good facility as we had large rucksacks. Loads of toilets also and a nice gift shop. For a free museum, this one is good

Would we be allowed to take photographs of the various memorabilia on display? I'm rather curious to know. Thanks ❤

You don't have to buy a ticket, period. There is no charge, however donations are encouraged. When we went to the National Army Museum we were coming from someplace else and walked there. When we returned to our hotel we took a cab to the underground and connected to our hotel. There is a very nice cafe on site with a good array of lunch options.

Hi. My boy is 5 and army mad, but gets very bored with text on walls, rather he would like to see exhibits, tanks, guns, bombs, that sort of thing. Is this a good place to travel an hour to?
Skrevet 21. mai 2018
Hi, I started taking my grandson at age 5, your boy sounds just like my grandson who never stops to read the signs! There’s a huge display of army vehicles in the grounds too and I’d say definitely worth an hour’s trip. We go every year. There’s a nice cafe and small play area upstairs. All in all plenty to look at.

Does the museum contain any exhibits related to the fighting at Rorke's Drift ?
Skrevet 25. januar 2018
I don't remember any display particular to Rorke's Drift.

Skrevet 17. august 2017
