Went to see Unbelievable. I was hoping to have that wow factor and it never really came. The cast were strong and there were a few lines which made me smile.
There was a lot of audience participation and this meant the evening dragged on a bit. Especially as you had to wait for them to come from the seat to the stage.
The finale seemed a little lacklustre. The cast was solid and this definitely was a family event.

Nice theatre, quite small and intimate and with good views from most places and good leg room as well (important when 6' 4"). We had tickets for 'Unbelievable' in the stalls on the Sunday matinee with a great view at £25 direct from the theatre. For our £25, we got a good two plus hours of an entertaining magic show with lots of audience participation and banter. A few head scratchers in there and whilst there were no gobsmacking, jaw-dropping tricks, it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon nonetheless. Definitely recommend.

The theatre was nice but the magic show UNBELIVEABLE truly was ....it was the worst magic show I have ever seen .The theatre was half empty that says it all . IT was nothing more than a stage show that just did not work ,we have seen Derran perform live before and can not believe he put his name to this show if you want to see magic go somewhere else

First of all, I would like to extend the highest possible accolade to Derren Brown and his team for producing the wonderful show ‘Unbelievable.’ This was a joyful feast of musical virtuosity, slick illusion, and warm engagement with the audience, the whole of which left me feeling massively uplifted. I must also mention the genuine hero of a man who works in the box office. I turned up with two tickets but one was accidentally purchased by me for the show the following week. This kind man calmly found a seat and transferred the ticket to the date I was actually there with my friend. I cannot thank him enough for the way he dealt with this. Ten out of ten for the whole Criterion experience.

This is a beautiful little yet modern and wonderfully organised theatre in the heart of Piccadilly.
I can't recall my last time at the Criterion, it may have been when Sharon Gless starred in Misery many moons ago . This impromptu Tuesday matinee of "The Way Old Friends Do" was a cheesy, fun, tongue in cheek Abba homage and I enjoyed it.
The staff were lovely so chatty and accommodating as I waited, seated inside before the doors officially opened. The intimacy of the venue means there's a beautiful atmosphere and with two bars and hyper modern efficient and clean toilets, it's a great success all round.
Nearest tube is Piccadilly Circus Piccadilly Line and take exit 3 to come onto street level in front of the Criterion doors

Beautiful old theatre, tiled interior. Stalls are three floors down and you can hear the Piccadilly Line trains. The seats are not as spacious as some other theatres but really enjoyed 'The Way Old Friends Do.'

A friend and I went to see Bleak Expectations which we loved - with the added treat of seeing the glorious Stephen Fry.
However, they had run out of programmes 2 weeks before the end of show's run and didn't see the point of printing any more. We felt that it showed a lack of regard for their audience, many of which, like us, enjoy reading the programme and indeed keep them as a reminder. A very selfish attitude and in all our years of regular theatre going, this is the only time we have ever experienced this. We were both disappointed.

An incredibly rude man at the box office window.
I went in to ask directions and he had a terrible attitude, very unwelcoming.

Beautifully restored theatre right on Piccadilly Circus — not sure that there is a bad seat anywhere in the house. Staff are lovely — all, to a person, were warm, courteous, and helpful. Made my evening at the theatre completely stress-free and enjoyable.
Saw the current production, Bleak Expectations, in early May whilst in London for the Coronation. Tremendously funny with a cast who were clearly enjoying themselves. Production is on through 13 August. Cannot recommend it too highly.

What is the dress code here? Is it a dress, with the husband in a tie? Or are jeans and sweaters ok? Seems in NYC anything goes, but we don’t want to be underdressed in London.

Hi there,
We saw The Play That Goes Wrong last night with my 9 year old, which we all enjoyed immensely, with oodles of giggles. Is The Comedy About A Bank Robbery suitable for this age to see?
Many thanks in advance

Yes in my view absolutely no problem, loads of clever slapstick stuff. We were there on Tuesday and there were loads of kids under 9 .....

Should we get stalls or dress circle

Personal preference of course, but the view from this theatre's stalls is fantastic - it's a small theatre so you're very close to the action on stage rather than looking down on it. Honestly not sure what sort of view you'd actually get from the back of the balcony.

Sorry I am not sure. We went in February. It is a very old theatre, maybe take a bottle of mineral water with you.

Am booking tickets to see The Comedy About A Bank Robbery and on the evening we are going there are seats available in the boxes. When we saw Peter Pan Goes Wrong in the West End and The Play That Goes Wrong on Broadway, the preponderance "action" seemed to be on one side or the other. With The Comedy, is this the situation? As you are sitting in the audience, which side of the stage did more of the action seem to occur? As there are boxes on either side of the theatre available, I definitely want to get seats that allow us to see the most possible! Thanks!

Hi, sorry for only spotting your question now Jonathan.
I was in the stalls, 5 or 6 rows from the back in the dead centre so had a perfect view. The boxes are well positioned I'd say as the 'action' is not predominantly one side or the other. The theatre is very small so I'd say you'd have a great view.
Best,
Jo

Does anybody have any advice on restricted view seats?
I'm looking at buying stalls tickets for the back on the left if you're facing the stage (S20 - 21)
They say restricted but it's hard to tell if it's bad or not and theatremonkey hasn't got much to say!

If you look on theatre seat checker and put the seats in you can read people’s reviews- find this very reliable.
Sorry for the delay in answering.

Do you love musicals, plays and comedies? If you do then Piccadilly is the right place to stay. It is also a great place to shop.
The National Gallery is 5 minutes away; Big Ben is 15 minutes away.
Use the subway to get wherever you want to go. Piccadilly is in fact the ideal place to stay. Weather in London is always uncertain. Anything can happen. Try to get a room with air conditioned. Have fun.
