Wow! What a find. You could easily walk passed - but inside is a treasure. Apart from the lovely interior of this church - you can't miss the model of old London Bridge. This church is well worth a visit.

Small nice church but with a very cool 20 foot model of what the London Bridge looked like in the 12th-15th centuries

I go there every time when in London. I am an atheist, but the place is so spiritual and beautiful. Gorgeous light, smell of incense, and the candles around - this always makes me feel greatfull and full of happiness. And everybody is welcomed there, no matter if they religious or not.

We (both atheists) attended a funeral here last week. The service was so High Church it could have been Roman Catholic. I've never been to an RC service of any kind so it was interesting.
The building itself is interesting too, designed by Christopher Wren after being the second to be burned down during the Great Fire of London in 1666. It is very near Pudding Lane and the Monument and a short walk along the river from the Tower of London.
Both the stained-glass window depicting St Magnus with horns on his helmet and the statue of him with even bigger horns are beautiful but historically inaccurate.

A beautiful historic church that is off of the main tourist routes that I am so glad I came across by chance. After visiting the Monument to the Great Fire of London I caught sight of St. Magnus The Martyr church and crossed the road to take a look inside. I am so glad I did as the inside of the church is stunning with its dark wooden altar, pipe organ and church pews positioned at a diagonal. The Viking statue of Magnus the Martyr and the stained glass windows were great and the scaled model of the medieval London Bridge (c. 1400) made by David T Aggett in 1987 was just amazing. There were some second hand books for sale to help fund the church I assume and also in the entrance was an old wooden Fire cart that would have been used at the time of the Great Fire. Do give this church a visit and leave a donation to keep it in the beautiful condition it is in today.

Very welcoming and were invited to stay for lunch after a very High Anglican service. Church very full and many regulars.
Probably would be regarded by some as old school Anglican service.

I think this is one of the most beautiful churches in the City. Its history is similar to most other City churches - 900 years of ups and downs, the Great Fire, Wren, WWII.
The wooden reredos behind the altar is colourful and vaguely baroque (with a golden pelican!), a statue and a stained glass window show St Magnus with his Viking helmet and there are tombs and memorials all around.
When I visited there were helpful and welcoming volunteers (I think they keep the church open)

Mass here is done properly with all the bells and smells. Beautiful music and organ. Refreshments in the crypt afterwards is welcoming and friendly. Great for a church visit for a service or just a look. Stunning church

The church is surrounded by modern buildings and it takes a little while to find. It is a beautiful old church and well worth a visit. There is a printed guide which explains the different pictures, ornaments and religious items of significance to be found in the church. There is a 20ft model of the original 1100 London Bridge which has been beautifully crafted in exquisite detail. Sadly it is not very well displayed in a glass case with little room for visitors to see it; however since there were very few people there when we went it didn’t matter much. We stayed for the lunch time service and were warmly welcomed.

As with a lot of the old buildings within the City area they are hidden by the new and modern constructions. This is another fine example of a lovely church off the tourist trail, which is so beautiful and so worth a visit. It has a fine model of the old London Bridge which in its self makes for a worthwhile visit.

Is the church open this time of year. I am coming in to London and would like to find family members that have been reported being buried there.
Skrevet 20. oktober 2017
Yes - it's open all year. I would check their website (I can't post the link, but google it) if you want to avoid clashing with services. There are also contact details on the website.

If you go to the churches website it may tell you it's opening hours. Google St Magnus the Martyr.
