My daughter (9) and I visited this using the Jorvik Pastport. We were actually staying in a hotel right beside the gate, so it was extremely convenient for us, however we were surprised that the staff member in the hotel didn't know about it, despite being able to direct us to most other locations around the city - perhaps this museum does not get the same promotion as others?

The stairs to this exhibition are not as nerve-wracking as the Richard III experience, so that pleased me from the start! The actual experience was very interesting - lots of reading, which my daughter wasn't so interested in but she did find the display of medicines fascinating and enjoyed seeing the various display models.

The staff were friendly and happy to advise, though perhaps not as forthcoming as the gentleman at the Richard experience. That said, it was much busier here, being the morning of residents's weekend (we visited Richard mid-week and towards closing time)

My daughter's view was that it was "quite good" - not her favourite activity but also not the worst and she would be happy to return. I too would like to go back and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in history.

If you had no previous knowledge of Henry VIII you would have gained a huge amount out of this place. The information is concise, the exhibits excellent and the film about Tawton educational.

Not much more to say that hasn't been said already. It's nothing to do with Henry VII, it's a room with a few display pieces in and a few mannequins in historical garb. Not particularly interesting to the average historian.

A slightly better gift shop than the Richard III experience, who how wants to buy Tudor rubbish?

Henry VII Experience at Micklegate Bar is a nice little museum outlining the connection between Henry VII and York, its a cool museum, its not massive but its interesting, besides learning about the connection of Henry VII and York you also get to explore around the beautiful Micklegate Bar, this is in my opinion one of the most beautiful gateways in York .
A great museum housed in a stunning building, easy to locate along Micklegate and most definitely well worth checking out if your in the area or planning a holiday to York.

I popped in while doing the Wall Walk. It's only small but there is lots of information you can read if you want to and the staff were friendly and helpful. I liked being able to see the structure of the inside of the bar, as well. There's a small dressing up area for kids and a small shop, too, plus plenty of seating if your feet are aching! I had bought a Pastport which included entry to here and the other Jorvik group attractions, which I thought was good value for money. If you have a York Pass, I believe this also includes entry to this attraction. Can be done in 15 minutes if you don't read all the info, but there were some interesting nuggets of information in amongst the more general information about the Wars of the Roses.

To have two historic "experiences" (this one and the Richard III Experience) sited within the iconic Bars of York is wonderful but it has to be admitted that the space they have for interpretation is restricted.

Having the two sites could be a good way to engender historical debate but that doesn't really happen.

The links between Henry VII and York were far fewer than those between his rival and the City of York but the site does its best with what it has. The information on York at the time of his reign is very interesting.

It's failing is similar to that of the other attraction - debate seems to be avoided. A classic example of this is the way the Pretenders are treated. They may well have been fakes or even "stalking horses" but they are dismissed as impossible / irrelevant. Henry himself could do that easily in one case but not so easily in the other.

As is true of the other Experience and the walls in general, the site is not very accessible for people with mobility problems but there is nothing they could do about that.

The shop isn't only standard fare - it has some quirky items and, for a small site, a good range of books. Customer care is very good.

I probably would not pay separately to visit here as it is quite small, and TBH all the dates and names just go in one side of my brain and out of the other. The man on the desk was really friendly and enthusiastic.

A smaller exhibit with lots of wall placards to read. Nothing on video. A bit confusing if you are not a English history buff.
