Not impressed with the new cafe. There’s less seating as half of it is ALWAYS shut off. Not good for social distancing at all. There are more tables outside than in which for anyone venturing here not wanting to sit out and be cold it is not ideal. For such a big organisation everything is disposable. Where has all the crockery gone such a wasteful experience with so much thrown away. There were teapots etc before where are they now! Car parking too expensive too. I am a local and very sad to see this place open up like this it could be so much better. Get your ECO hat on National trust and help protect the world not fill the landfill! Even if it’s recyclable this isn’t good enough. A very disappointing visit. You have too much good competition around in Hathersage to encourage anyone to go back

I'm reviewing this as a person with limited mobility. We took the "smoothest" path, which was 1.7miles. Excellent views and the estate was well maintained, although there are a few places on this route that need mending for it to be comfortable for a wheelchair/mobility scooter. Also, some bins along the paths would be welcome as there was some rubbish along the way.

The Longshaw estate is fabulous for walks and views that are just on my doorstep. The cafe, though a little small could always be relied on for excellent lunches and afternoon teas, so I was eager to try out the new, revamped and extended cafe. Afraid it was a disappointment. Gone are the homemade savoury dishes (soups, salads, filled pancakes, homity pie, quiches) and cakes. In their place are pre-packaged sandwiches, with the only hot food being a pasty or a sausage roll. There were long queues to be served. I'm hoping this is a temporary situation perhaps caused by shortage of staff and supplies. But if it's a new regime it does not impress. All that money spent on building a new cafe and it was better the way it was before!

Having visited Longshaw as a child, I was excited to come back as an adult! Really loved it…the stream area is perfect for families, the stepping stones are fun and ideal for splashing in on hot days! There are numerous different walks you can do with pooches and/or children! There is a cafe and toilets onsite if you park in the National Trust Carpark aswell as a lovely second hand bookshop! There’s also an ice-cream van near the stream.

We did park at Haywood car park, for 4 hours we paid £3.50 and the ticket machine didn't give us £0.50 back. There was no litter bin and generally I think as the car park was not tarmacked the price was a bit too much. Then we went for a walk but it was absolutely disgusting how many dog poos we found - that's why I gave only 3 stars. I tried to go into grass to check if there are any mushrooms but found only dog poos. The area is beautiful but after this visit I have strong feeling that National trust should exclude dog walkers from visiting this place.

Simply stunning. Magnificent views, walks along the stream, numerous stepping stone crossings for the kids, areas to splash for dogs, shaded areas to picnic, and once you're done there, can turn in another direction to climb the tors, walk through the heather and bracken... Our kids don't need much to start moaning, they really enjoyed this, especially when there's always an ice-cream van you can use as a bribe at the end of a long walk.

The actual estate is beautiful with plenty of countryside to explore for walks. However, this is a review of the cafe. I really enjoyed my cauliflower pasty and coffee but the service was so slow. We were waiting quite a long time, with no sense of urgency from the staff. Looks like they are advertising for a manager so hopefully, things will improve.

This is not a review of the estate, which is a nice place to go for a walk.

This is just for the café.

Nice building, suitable for walkers, grannies and kids alike.

Horrible, rude staff.

And check this out..... We just ordered 2 rounds of toast which turned out to mean 2 slices of supermarket bread toasted, and a couple of jams and butters.

So far, so cr*p.

And then we got charged £5.90.

5 of her majesty's English pounds, and 90 pence. For two slices of cheap-@ss bread and some jam.

Great place to start a walk and easy use car park. Paths and walks nicely marked and views fantastic .
Only small point cafe closed a lot earlier than advertised which was a shame but never mind had to go to the pub instead

I loved every second of the varied scenery on my walk that took in Owler Tor, Millstone Edge and Padley Gorge. The walk markers disappear part way round so it’s worth having a copy of your route with you! The car park, cafe and toilets were quite busy but clean and handy.
