I saw some negative reviews about this rink, which I disagreed with, so I thought I'd leave a positive one. I skate here a minimum of twice a week, and it's the highlight of my week. The coaches are lovely and provide brilliant group lessons that anyone can take part in. The general community is very friendly and what you would expect from an ice rink. The rink generously allows university societies to run events, giving us students a nice opportunity to socialise once a week.
The weekend sessions are fun and fairly busy, but that's to be expected. The weekday sessions, on the other hand, are really quiet. I saw people mention "gangs of teenagers causing a dangerous environment," but I think this is a selfish comment. When I go skating, I see these young lads innocently having fun on the rink, not putting anyone at risk. Yes, there are people performing hockey stops—it's an ice rink, after all.
If you want to skate regularly, there's great incentive to take lessons: £55 a month for a weekly 30-minute lesson (enough time to make good progress for beginners) and unlimited access to public sessions! However, I do think the café is too expensive, and I'm not a huge fan of the design. It could definitely be more exciting with a few murals, perhaps.

Ice rink itself is great. Staff are friendly and courteous. Only downside is the prices in the Sub Zero bar/café, really expensive. For example £4.50 for a Diet Coke, family of four that works out £18 for drinks, extortionate!!! I would recommend bringing your own drinks/snacks.

I attended the intensive ice skating course in February to gain confidence on the ice. I was one of them people who cling onto the side of the rink and don’t dare to let go. I am amazed at how far I progressed in 3 days. The instructors are so friendly and patient. By the end of the 3 day course I had built my confidence up considerably. I was skating around and even managed to learn some tricks. I went with the intention to build confidence but enjoyed learning the skills so much that I am considering continuing my lessons. Definitely worth the £75 & as a solo adult learner I didn’t feel out of place at all coming along to the lessons - there was all sorts of people attending such as adults, teens , children and parents and children.
As part of the lesson price you get to go for the free skating session after with the public - this was a great opportunity to build your confidence & practice what you just learnt in the lesson.

Awful company.
I booked and paid for a party in September 2023 for a party in January 2024.
We got there to find they’d double booked our party, stuck us in a back room, two of our party didn’t even get their food with the rest, and when the party organisers flagged this there was an argument and it took 30 minutes to be resolved meaning two of our party sat there whilst the rest ate!
There was no “dessert ” which is part of their “party package” and the staff were quarrelling and bickering and when I asked about the dessert they just said “we’ve got no ice lollies”
I emailed them with regards to substandard service (bearing in mind I thought as a party we’d have our own area in which the kids could skate- nope, thrown in with the lot, which is anxiety inducing at best when there’s no space on the ice at all and there’s other peoples kids to consider) and I received nothing back.
No apologies, no refund for the lack of desserts or the fact two of our party were eating half an hour after the rest.
I’ll be amazed if this place is still running on a years time, good luck to them, their utter disregard for their patrons comes across in waves.

I visit this venue 3 times a week for skating and lessons. The main problem on the public sessions are gangs of feral teenagers skating at high speed, knocking people over and doing hockey stops in front of families. This happens at EVERY session. Despite complaints to staff (who are not much older than the teenagers and seem to be friends with some of them), NOTHING is done. We gave up going to evening sessions as gangs of youths turn up in balaclavas and cause havoc. Last week I was hit in the face by a female who was waving a handbag in one hand and a mobile in the other on the ice whilst staff watched!!!
Something needs to be done before a member of the public is seriously injured.

Far to busy numbers should be capped big queues to get in and then to get skates and far to busy on the ice making it dangerous and scary used to love going but to busy now

My friend and I didn't have the best experience in two areas when we attended a concert. We emailed a member of staff, she was helpful and rectified our initial issue. The Merchandise Manager, Jen Stevens, was abrupt on the other hand. She basically called me a liar for being overcharged and refused to hear me or find a solution to the issue. If there is a problem, I recommend speaking to somebody else.

I'd say 6/10.
Pre Booking is the way forward so you avoid insane queue. Queue for skates was OK. Staff were really positive.
Not impressed at all with locker system. Don't know why you can't have your skates and they then store your shoes. Less faff.

Very impressed with drinks in side bar £1 for a cordial.
Place looks very grotty and smelt of BO today. Needs to take a leaf out of Rollerworlds book and stop crowds just standing at side on ice, chatting in big groups. Dangerous. Go off the ice for your chat. You need skating staff on the ice moving folks along

We took our daughters (5 and 7) for the first time last week and they both loved it, so much so they want to go again and have lessons.
It was decent value for money for the time you get on the ice for a family of 4. We paid £5 to rent a penguin balance aid for our youngest who then didn't want to leave the ice once she got that.
I'd recommend wearing thick socks as the rental skates can be quite harsh but well worth a visit.

The rink is good, but the facility is dingy and dirty and the staff can be rude and abrupt. I’ve also had items stolen during sessions so beware of thieves.
