First time visiting the hall and the t-rex exhibition. We left feeling ripped off and disappointed.

The hall itself is beautiful, but you can only go into rooms that either have a lot of taxidermists animals in and the t-rex exhibition.

The t-rex exhibition was good and there was some interesting displays. However there wasnt much information to read.

It took us a whole of an hour, which for the cost of over £30 for a family of 3 is very pricy. Oh and to pay for parking if your visiting the hall is a rip off.

FYI, it mentions that one can walk around the gardens and go to the fair, which is included in the cost of your ticket, these are actually free anyway.

A must visit!

This is fabulous place for a walk and a glimpse into history. The connection with WW2 was of particular interest. Take a look at the two bench seats on the lawns dedicated to American forces billeted there in WW2. The building is delightful and the grounds and lakes can absorb hours of long walks and picnics.

Go and see Titus
okt. 2021 • Familie
We went to see Titus the T Rex to see a full size skeleton is amazing.
We knew Titus is not all made up from excavated bones, some are casts but that does not distract from the pure scale and spectacle. I am unlikely to see another in my lifetime. The opportunity to see a full size T Rex skeleton rarely happens.
The display did not disappoint and the interactive dinosaur designs delighted the 3 & 6 year old grandchildren as did the other stuffed animals and birds displayed elsewhere.
The only disappointing aspect was the lack of available food. We'd travelled a long way and when we went to get something to eat the choice was a cake or crisps and the queues for drinks was very long.
Accepting that we had only visited to see Titus better food would have rounded off our day much more nicely.

Fantastic day out, great value for money.

Location - roughly 15 mins from the city centre in a taxi which cost about £10 going and £20 coming back. We did also note some bus stops very close by but didn't look these. Could be an option if you don't want to pay for a taxi.
Food - we stopped for some lunch at the café and this was by far the most disappointing part of the day. Sausage roll was extremely overpriced, it was snack size and cost £2.50. On top of this it was dry and tasteless. We did have some nice cakes which were really tasty and the coffee was nice. Things were priced as you would expect for a national trust or English heritage cafe. Overall would recommend bringing a picnic as there are so many benches you can sit on to enjoy your food. Toilets are by the cafe area and are free.
Building/exhibition - we went mainly to see the Titus exhibition and we were not disappointed. The displays were well thought out and interesting and staff were present to answer questions. There were other interesting exhibits around the house, which itself was beautiful. definitely worth the ticket price and would recommend visiting while it's there.
Grounds - not much to say apart from they were just stunning. Lots of rolling hills and we took a nice walk around the lake which was very picturesque. there are lots of benches dotted around if you a rest/are worried about being able to manage.

The hall may be magnificent but after 10 minutes trying to pay for parking we gave up and went elsewhere, ruined our day!

Brilliant deer park. Would have loved to seek the house but it was closed understandably because of Covid-19.

Nice T-Rex Exhibition - though paying for parking is a nightmare
sep. 2021
We visited Wollaton Hall and Park on the outskirts of Nottingham as they had a T-Rex exhibition - the first of its kind in the UK.
Upon arrival we found we had to pay for parking - no mention of this is made on the website. However, paying for parking is a nightmare, as they don't have parking machines. Anyone over 12 would struggle to use their phone system, so we ended up paying in the shop.
The exhibition on the T-Rex and dig in the USA is good, but we left very much disappointed, as the website is very misleading as to what would be in the exhibition - no animatronics at all!
The house itself was interesting - used in the Dark Knight Riser Batman movie as Wayne Manor! As are the natural history museum displays.
Onsite catering was a joke. over 30 minute queues, just for a drink.
So a very mixed trip.

Disappointing & poor value

Beautiful architecture in a perfect setting but let down by:
< overly complicated method of paying for parking
< £13 admission to view just a few room displays in the hall
< little info about the hall/architecture/owners

Not bad for a day out. Always nice to visit. But there are better places out there. Parking can be inconvenient as have to pay. Can get busy on summer days.

Wollaston Hall, Nottingham’s non-attraction
sep. 2021
I took my 93 year old, wheelchair bound mother out for a trip to the hall yesterday and whilst access is a bit limited it is acceptable given the challenges presented by old buildings. What was not acceptable was the very poor value based on the admission price which included access to a dinosaur exhibition over 2 rooms and access to some extremely old and tired stuffed birds and fish which I think are the same ones since at least the 1970’s. to add insult to injury we were told we didn’t have free roam to everywhere as there was a wedding on. I commented to one of the staff and presumably to soften us up we were given a dinosaur book which then proceeded to lose all its pages, no doubt these were freebies because the print job had been rejected!
Hold on to your money and just visit the grounds, you’ll then be able to spend it on a £2.70 cup of tea in the courtyard
