Caversham Court Gardens is located in Caversham, UK directly north across the bridge from Reading on the north side of the River Thames. It is a delightful gem that seamlessly combines history, natural beauty, and tranquility. This riverside oasis offers a serene escape from the bustle of urban life, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, a picnic, some quiet contemplation, or to learn some history about the area. The gardens are steeped in history, with their origins dating back to the 12th century. The site was once the location of a medieval manor, and remnants of the Tudor-era house still stand, adding an air of historical charm to the surroundings.
It is a picturesque setting that provides breathtaking views of the river and the lush greenery on its banks. The well-maintained lawns and flowerbeds are a testament to the care put into preserving this natural haven. Visitors will also appreciate the diverse plantings, including colorful flowers and mature trees, creating a serene atmosphere. The peacefulness of the gardens is enhanced by the soothing sound of the river flowing gently by. There is a small building that serves as a tea shop and is manned by volunteers. With its historical significance, riverside location, and well-tended grounds, Caversham Court Gardens offers a delightful escape for those seeking a peaceful connection with nature and a taste of local history. It's a place where the past and present harmoniously converge in a setting that invites reflection and relaxation.

Caversham garden, lakes and surroundings are really wonderful especially after a tiring business day. You can relax there and choose one the bars and restaurants near by to have a drink.
Views are spectacular especially in a shiny afternoon.

Beautiful, peaceful riverside gardens with benches, a tea and cake shop (cakes from £1.50/slice and their proceeds support charities), and public toilets.
Helpful hint: to lock the toilet door it’s a switch on the wall to your right or left once you’re in the loo. It’s not obvious so hope this helps!

Caversham Court Gardens is another place to get calm time in Reading. Very peaceful place, no kids running around making loads of noise. Lots of beautiful trees and plants to look at.

If you haven't been to this little hidden gem please make time and go. Beautiful small little park leading down to the Thames with a coffee pavilion ran by different volunteer groups. Always amazing homemade cakes !! It is one of the most relaxing places in my eyes in Berkshire. St Peter's above, great gardens and a place for everyone.

Over the years the grounds have been beautifully restored. It is a very relaxing place to be with well kept borders and some lovely old trees. There is a lot of history to the site, being the site of a 12th century house. All that remains is a 17th century gazebo, which now contains a small exhibition on the history of the site. A delightful spot on the River Thames. There is a small charity run kiosk selling tea, coffee and cakes.

A very pleasant stroll amongst nesting ducks, geese and swans with plentiful babies of those birds waddling around.
Consequently there was also plentiful bird poo on the pavements, some fresh and some well ingrained. However, what do you expect from nature?
At one point a deer sped majestically across the field into the forest as if running from a hunting predator.
All in all a very relaxing way to spend an hour or so.
Close to Caversham centre with coffee shops etc if needed.
