午前中の滞在でしたが朝もやの中、雰囲気も良くきれいな城でした。
スタッフの方も多く、親切な対応を頂きました。
冬場の滞在だったため、場内もかなり寒かったです。

Somewhere to visit when you are a member. Not far from Ludlow and close to A49. A short walk from the car park. Not really a castle, more an old Manor. There is a decent amount to see. The audio guide is very useful. Walking round the dry moat you can see how tall the building would have been. Some steps and uneven floors. The church in the grounds is also worth seeing. The tea room is outside by the car park.

Never been anywhere like this and we've visited plenty. I doubt there is another.

It's charming, intriguing and fascinating.

We were captivated from the incredible yellow timber-framed lodge house entrance, leading across the lawns into the castle. So atmospheric once in and the audio tour provided a real insight adding to the feeling of what it must have been like.

A real treat.

Out of season there were 2 people in the queue ahead of me cafe was empty both ordered drinks only and it took just over HALF AN HOUR to get served - a quick stop at the cafe for a sandwich before visiting the castle took an hour and a half by the time we’d received our sandwiches and eaten them and meant we had no time to actually go round stokesay as had to be elsewhere

Despite a horrid wet day we were able to enjoy our tour of this castle. It is more like a fortified manor. Most of it is roofed and you could almost imagine being able to live here. As always English Heritage do a good job of making the tour interesting. There was an excellent audio guide and very informative boards and illustrations. Staff were friendly and helpful

The post code above is incorrect, it takes you to the Clee hills which is miles away the manor house if signposted off the A49, there is a large carpark and a cafe .

The manor house is amazing due to its age and has so much history in its old timber and stone walls and frame. Take the advice of the staff and take the point and press hand held guide, its tells you so much that could of been missed otherwise.

Really enjoyed our visit, it was a hot day and we had our dog but plenty of shady areas to walk in and shaded benches to sit at. Audio guide was great. No dogs in the buildings but they are welcome in the grounds. The audio guide took about 40 mins I think so we were able to take it in turns to walk the dog and look inside. Fascinating and beautiful buildings and stunning views. The tea room was really nice as well for lunch and also dog friendly. Staff very helpful and welcoming .

Very well kept and easy to follow informative audio guidance through the property. Amazing to see and beautiful gardens. The gift shop was great as well - lots of great gift ideas and cute things for children.

A number of areas inside the buildings are difficult to access for those with physical challenges such as crutches, leg problems or wheelchairs. Unfortunately this is part of the architecture of the castle, but keep this in mind if you wish to visit.

The staircases are steep and narrow and there are a number of steps throughout. As parents of a baby we had to take turns to explore said areas because carrying the buggy up and down was not an option.

Nevertheless, most visitors and their kids were able to move about freely and we thoroughly enjoyed the sights and educational aspects!

The tea room had available only two kinds of snacks before 12noon. The menu looked lovely, but we weren’t able to order what we wanted.

The lawns are lovely so consider taking along your own picnic basket to save money!

Overall a fantastic educational experience of a wonderful location, would definitely recommend.

Spent a lovely sunny afternoon here and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The fortified house is well preserved so you get a real sense of what is was like long ago. The complimentary audio guide was excellent, really adding to the experience. It’s not the largest site but it was a pleasure to visit, with lots of detail given. Staff in the shop were very welcoming and friendly, and there are tea rooms as well as the church to visit. Delightful.

Cafe has a serious problem with wasps. Never seen a swarm around cakes like we witnessed here (10-20 around a plate of cakes within a minute). There appear to be no efforts to tackle the problem. Also around the serving area.
Family next to us left one person inside, to wait for the food to be served, because the wasps were so bad. Waiting time was over half an hour for four rounds of sandwiches. Food is expensive, for what it is. Tables weren't cleared quickly, adding to the wasp issue.
Staff were apathetic.
